The Blaine County Sheriff has lifted the Level 2 Set Statuses for the SouthCarey and EastCarey evacuation zones in the Wildhorse Fire, effective 8/27/2026. Both zones will go to Level 1 READY STATUS. Please maintain situational awareness should conditions change. If you feel you are in danger, do not wait for an evacuation order.

🔥 Wild Horse Fire Update – Richfield Area

We have spoken directly with the Fire Incident Commander regarding the current status of the Wild Horse Fire and its potential impact on the Richfield area.

At this time, Richfield is no longer being maintained in a READY status, and according to the Incident Commander, there is currently no identified threat to the Richfield area from the fire.

Fire personnel will continue to monitor the fire and conditions closely. As with any active wildfire, conditions can change, and we will provide updates if the situation changes or additional precautions become necessary.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience as fire crews continue their work.

Please continue to use caution in and around the fire area and follow directions from fire personnel and law enforcement.

🔥 Wild Horse Fire Update

The Wild Horse Fire remains active, and fire personnel will continue conducting backburning operations as conditions allow. Residents may notice increased smoke in the area as these operations continue.

Fire officials have also advised that additional resources have been called in to assist with firefighting efforts.

We are keeping everyone at a READY status due to expected increased winds this afternoon, which could cause the fire to become more active or change direction.

Please remain alert, stay informed, and be prepared to take action if conditions change. Use extra caution when traveling in the area and give firefighters and emergency personnel plenty of room to work.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as information becomes available.

Wildhorse Fire Evacuation Update 9:00 PM 8/26/2026: The Blaine County Sheriff has lifted the Level 3-GO NOW EVACUATION STATUS for the "SouthCarey Zone" from Preacher Bridge on the East side of HWY 26 to Red Hawk Lane to a LEVEL 2-BE SET Status overnight.

Additionally, the LEVEL 1 - READY STATUS for "EastCarey Zone" has been raised to LEVEL 2 - BE SET Status overnight.

Both zones should maintain situational awareness and be prepared to leave on a moment's notice should conditions change. Follow us on social media for up-to-date fire evacuation updates.

Fire evacuation zones will be evaluated tomorrow based on fire activity. Stay safe.

🔥 Wildhorse Fire Update

The Wildhorse Fire is very visible from Shoshone at this time. Please be aware that the smoke and flames can be seen from town as the fire continues to move in the area.

We just want everyone to be aware so there is no unnecessary concern when you see the fire from Shoshone. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

🔥 WILD HORSE FIRE UPDATE 🔥

The road is OPEN at this time.

The Wild Horse Fire is currently estimated at approximately 50,000 acres and 10% contained, per the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC).

We remain in READY status and will continue to closely monitor the fire and its movement.

Please stay alert, use caution, and be prepared for changing conditions. We will provide additional updates as information becomes available.

🔥 WILDHORSE FIRE UPDATE

As of right now, the fire is pushing north. Highway 26, Richfield to Carey remains open, but conditions can change quickly.

Firefighters are continuing to work the fire and managing the situation. If you are traveling in the area, use caution, slow down, and watch for fire personnel and emergency vehicles.

Please stay alert and follow any instructions from fire officials and law enforcement.

We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
