Village of Shreve – Mayor’s Office

Residents,

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will be performing curb ramp removal and replacement work at all intersections approaching State Route 226 over the next several weeks, weather permitting.

This work is part of planned upgrades to install ADA-compliant curb ramps to improve accessibility and safety at these intersections ahead of the milling and resurfacing project of State Route 226 scheduled to begin in several weeks.

The curb ramp removal and replacement will be completed by DL Smith Co. of Norwalk, Ohio.

Residents may notice temporary disruptions in these areas during construction. We appreciate your patience as these important improvements are made.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Village Hall at 330-567-2600.

Village of Shreve – Mayor’s Office
Following additional testing by B & C Communications prior to leaving the site, it has been confirmed that the initial diagnosis was incorrect.

The issue is NOT related to the control board. Instead, a faulty display prevented technicians from manually triggering the alarm during testing. This display issue does NOT affect the actual functionality of the tornado siren.

THE VILLAGE OF SHREVE’S TORNADO SIREN IS AND HAS BEEN FULLY FUNCTIONAL.

After further coordination with Wayne County Dispatch, it was confirmed that the siren did not activate during the scheduled test OR during the recent storm due to an error on the part of dispatch.

To ensure full verification, Wayne County Dispatch was contacted and asked to activate the system again.

THE SIREN WAS SUCCESSFULLY ACTIVATED WITH NO ISSUES.

THIS CONFIRMS THE SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY AND IS FULLY OPERATIONAL.

At this time, only the display is required to be repaired, however these are NOT required to restore emergency alert functionality. The Village will continue working with all partners to ensure accurate testing and communication procedures moving forward.

We appreciate the community’s patience and encourage residents to continue using multiple alert sources as an added layer of safety.

Village of Shreve – Mayor’s Office

Following the recent failure of the Village’s outdoor warning system during the scheduled tornado siren test, B & C Communications is now on-site and has completed an initial diagnosis.

The issue has been identified as a failure within the siren system’s control board. The board will need to be removed and sent back to the manufacturer for further diagnostics and repair.

An inquiry was made regarding the possibility of ordering a replacement control board; however, B & C Communications has advised that repairing the existing unit is the fastest and most efficient path to restoring full functionality. B & C Communications will be utilizing expedited shipping to ensure the manufacturer receives the component as quickly as possible.

At this time, B & C Communications anticipates that the repair process may take up to two weeks.

During this period, residents are strongly encouraged to rely on alternative alert systems to stay informed during severe weather, including smartphones, computers, television broadcasts, and NOAA weather radios.

The safety of our residents remains our highest priority, and my administration will continue working diligently to restore the system and provide updates as they become available.
