Just a friendly reminder… school is starting soon and you know what that means! Yup… the dreaded SCHOOL ZONES will be back. We know how much of an inconvenience it can be for some to drive for a half a mile or less at a lower speed than the normal posted speed limit. However, that minor inconvenience of adding about 5 seconds to your commute could help avoid an accident or at the very least help avoid being stopped by an officer monitoring the school zone. Oh, I almost forgot to mention…fines double for speeding in a school zone… you might ask…”why do the fines double“? well, because you can’t put a price on the importance of a child’s safety… but at some point a group of people got together and decided that doubling the fine might deter reckless driving and save children from being ran over by an impatient driver. School zones are also hands free zones… that means you can’t scroll TikTok and facebook until you get to your destination. Be mindful of your speed and eliminate distractions while driving. CHILD S*X OFFENDER FUGITIVE CAPTURED

There is no place in our community for those who exploit children.

Last week, the Shreveport Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force was contacted by investigators with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Florida regarding Colby Crowson, who was wanted on 15 counts involving Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Investigators believed Crowson had fled to our area and requested our assistance in locating him.

Through investigative work and surveillance, Shreveport ICAC investigators determined Crowson was living in the Town of Blanchard. Working alongside the Blanchard Police Department, officers took Crowson into custody on August 3, 2026, without incident.

We want to thank the Blanchard Police Department for their partnership and assistance in ensuring this accused child predator is no longer walking free in our community.

Because Crowson had been residing in Caddo Parish, Shreveport ICAC investigators are now conducting a separate investigation to determine whether he committed any crimes while living in our area.

If you exploit children, traffic in child sexual abuse material, or believe you can hide in our community, think again. We will work with our law enforcement partners across the country to find you, arrest you, and hold you accountable. Children deserve protection, and those who prey on them deserve a jail cell.

Good afternoon Blanchard. As most of you are aware CPKC has been stationary for an extended period of time. We have contacted the critical incident team to report the crossings being blocked and were told several different reasons as to why the train has been stalled in Blanchard. We have exhausted all resources we know of to alleviate this problem and a complaint has been filed with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
