đźš” TRAFFIC STOP TURNS INTO HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT đźš”

On June 5, 2026, at approximately 1:50 a.m., a Blanchard Police Officer observed a vehicle traveling 50 MPH in a posted 35 MPH zone. What could have been a routine traffic stop quickly turned into a series of increasingly poor decisions.

When the officer activated emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, the driver apparently mistook it for a race and chose not to stop.

The pursuit traveled through multiple roadways in and around Blanchard, with the driver reaching speeds exceeding 120 MPH, running stop signs and red lights, nearly colliding with a police vehicle, driving into oncoming traffic, and even turning off the vehicle's headlights in an attempt to avoid detection.

Unfortunately for the driver, turning off the headlights does not make a vehicle invisible. It just makes the violations easier to add to the report.

Due to the significant danger posed to the public, officers deployed stop sticks, successfully deflating the vehicle's tires. The vehicle eventually slowed and came to a stop.

As it turns out, four tires are important.

The driver exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident. During the investigation, officers determined the driver did not possess a valid driver's license. Officers also detected a strong odor of ma*****na and located approximately 3 grams inside the vehicle.

The driver's evening concluded with a trip that was considerably slower than the one that started it.

Charges include:

⚖️ Aggravated Flight from an Officer (LRS 14:108.1(C))
⚖️ Possession of Ma*****na (LRS 40:966(C))

Additional citations were issued for speeding and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license.

We are grateful that no innocent motorists, pedestrians, or officers were injured during this incident.

Remember: If you see blue lights behind you, the correct response is to pull over—not to audition for the next action movie. It saves everyone time, paperwork, and tires.

Good afternoon, Blanchard!

As we wrap up the month of May, we wanted to share a quick look at what your officers have been doing to help keep our community safe. Contrary to popular belief, we haven't spent the month hiding behind donut boxes or seeing who can spend the most time in an air-conditioned patrol unit. We've been hard at work serving the citizens of Blanchard.

📞 Calls for Service: 150📝 Reports Written: 39🚗 State Crash Reports: 8🏢 Private Property Crash Reports: 5👮 Arrests Made: 7🚔 Traffic Stops Conducted: 293📄 Citations Issued: 133⚠️ Total Violations: 198

As always, please drive safely, obey traffic laws, and remember that stop signs are not merely suggestions.

Thank you for allowing us the privilege of serving you.

Good morning, citizens of Blanchard!

Here’s a quick (and slightly behind-the-scenes) look at what your local police officers have been up to this April—because despite popular belief, we don’t spend all day debating the best gas station snacks or perfecting our parking-lot coffee technique.

During the month of April, officers responded to 134 calls for service, resulting in 46 reports written, along with 3 state crash reports and 4 private property crash reports.

A total of 17 arrests were made—4 felony and 13 misdemeanor arrests.

Officers conducted 260 traffic stops, leading to 103 citations covering 163 violations. Of those, 8 drivers were found to be without liability insurance, and their vehicles were towed—because “I was just going down the road real quick” doesn’t count as coverage.

One of the calls mentioned above involved a reckless driver, who was located, stopped, and arrested for driving under the influence. A good reminder that if you plan to drink, your vehicle should not be part of that plan.

We hope this gives you a better idea of what’s happening around town and the work being done daily to keep Blanchard safe.

Have a wonderful day—and as always, stay safe!

We have made contact with a representative with CPKC, who informed us there is a mechanical problem with the train blocking the crossings… if you need to reroute please be safe while doing so. No time of completion was given for the repair. Be careful and have a great Saturday Blanchard…. Thank you for your patience.
