NLEP was proud to join economic development leaders from across the state in Lafayette this week for the 2026 Louisiana Economic Alliance for Development-LEAD Annual Economic Development Summit.

This year’s conversations focused on what it takes to build a future-ready Louisiana, from policy and partnerships to developing the talent our state needs to compete.

LEAD plays an important role in connecting and strengthening Louisiana’s economic development community, and it’s an organization we’re proud to support.

At the Data Center Vendor Engagement Event earlier this summer, we heard directly from local companies that had already been awarded contracts to work on these projects.

Their stories are a reminder that major investment creates opportunities well beyond the project site, supporting local businesses, workers and families across our region.

Look closely at the façade of Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College - NLTCC Shreveport campus, because it will look very different inside and out within the coming year. At the 90th anniversary celebration of the school’s founding last week, Chancellor Spillers announced $30 million in funding from the State of Louisiana and corporate partners to dramatically update and upgrade the campus. NLTCC is a great partner in support of our work and we celebrate this exciting news with them!

The impact of new investment in Northwest Louisiana is already reaching beyond the data center sites.

Sci-Port Discovery Center has received a $30,000 grant to create sensory-friendly upgrades that will make the center more accessible and welcoming for children and families.

The funding is part of the community investment connected to Amazon and STACK Infrastructure’s growing presence in Northwest Louisiana, one of many local projects receiving support as this development moves forward.

This is economic development at work in the community.

Join Amazon tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25, from 4–8 PM at the Shreveport Convention Center to learn more about the data center projects underway in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.

EMPWR LA was built to connect people with the skills, certifications and opportunities needed to step directly into high-demand manufacturing careers across North Louisiana. This recognition reflects the strength of the partnerships behind the program, especially our education and industry partners who continue to invest in building our region’s workforce.

Having a company like General Dynamics Information Technology in North Louisiana is a game changer for both our regional and state economies. Amazon and STACK INFRASTRUCTURE are expanding their commitment to Northwest Louisiana, bringing its total planned data center investment in the region to $18 billion.

The newly announced $6 billion Shreveport campus means more jobs, more construction activity and more opportunities for businesses and workers across our region.
