Officer Ryan Moore is leaving us to expand his career experience! Ryan was with LSUS PD over seven years and nine years with Desoto Parish SO. With a wide variety of skills and experience he won’t be easily replaced! Officer Andrew Young Honored with Life Saving Award at LSU Shreveport

Shreveport, LA – Officer Andrew Young of the LSU Shreveport Police Department has been awarded the Department’s prestigious Life Saving Award for his heroic actions during recent graduation ceremonies.

During the event, Officer Young responded swiftly when a citizen attending the ceremony became unresponsive. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Young immediately administered CPR. His quick response and decisive action successfully revived the individual, ultimately saving their life.

In recognition of his courage and professionalism, Officer Young was formally presented with the Life Saving Award by LSU Shreveport Chancellor Dr. Robert Smith and LSUS Chief of Police Allen Johnson during the Fall Campus Kickoff at LSU Shreveport.

“Officer Young’s actions exemplify the dedication and service we hope all of our officers bring to the community,” said Chancellor Smith. “His ability to remain calm under pressure and act decisively ensured a life was saved on a day of celebration for our graduates and their families.”

Chief Johnson echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the importance of Officer Young’s training and commitment. “The Life Saving Award is reserved for officers whose actions directly prevent the loss of life. Officer Young’s response in this emergency demonstrates the highest standards of law enforcement and service to others,” Johnson said.

The award presentation underscored LSU Shreveport’s commitment to campus safety and highlighted the essential role of campus police officers in protecting students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

🚲 Sometimes bad things happen to good people, but other good people step in to negate the bad. 🚲

Yesterday, a non-student helped themselves to an unlocked bike belonging to a student on our campus. Today, our department pitched in and gifted Ms. Colvin a new set of wheels and a bike lock.

As a reminder, even though our campus is pretty safe, always 🔓 lock your 🚲 or other 🚗 vehicle to avoid being a victim of opportunity crimes like these.
