It’s better to be a few minutes late than not there at all. ⏰

Speeding catches up with you.

This month, the Shrewsbury Police Department will be taking part in the State’s Speed Enforcement Campaign. Thanks to the Municipal Road Safety Grant, you may notice additional officers conducting traffic enforcement throughout town.

Speed limits are in place to protect everyone on the road — drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. Slowing down helps prevent crashes and saves lives.

Please drive safely, stay alert, and give yourself extra time to get where you’re going.

This past Saturday, June 6th, Officers Walker and Van Wagoner proudly participated in the 2026 Special Olympics Massachusetts Cruiser Convoy.

The Cruiser Convoy is the largest and most anticipated single-day event on the Law Enforcement Torch Run calendar, bringing together law enforcement officers from across the Commonwealth — from the Berkshires to Provincetown, and the North Shore to New Bedford — in support of Special Olympics athletes.

Our officers brought the department motorcycle and met up with multiple agencies before making the ride into Boston together for the Summer Games at Harvard’s Athletic Complex.

In addition to participating in the convoy, Officers Walker and Van Wagoner were honored to present medals to several athletes during the games — a truly memorable experience and a reminder of what makes this event so special.

We are proud to support the athletes of Special Olympics Massachusetts and the incredible spirit of determination, courage, and community they represent.

Looking for something to do this weekend?

Come cheer on your hometown first responders as the Shrewsbury Police & Fire Hockey Club compete in the BFit Heroes Cup at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough!

The team will hit the ice on Friday and Saturday, with hopes of advancing to the playoff round on Sunday. The BFit Heroes Cup brings together police officers, firefighters, and first responders from across the region to raise funds and awareness for causes that support our public safety community.

Whether you’re a hockey fan or just looking for a great family-friendly event, we’d love to see some Shrewsbury support in the stands!

Good luck to all the players competing this weekend. Bring home the cup!

Press Release:
Shrewsbury Officers jump into Lake Quinsigamond to assist man

On May 27th, 2026 at approximately 9:55 AM, a 19 year old male fled from an ambulance at UMass Memorial Medical Center on Lake Avenue in Worcester. Shortly after fleeing, the man entered the waters of Lake Quinsigamond, just north of the Regatta Point State Park on the Worcester side of the lake. Immediately upon being notified of a person in the water, multiple Shrewsbury police officers launched the Shrewsbury Police Department boat to assist the Worcester Police and UMass Police. The Shrewsbury Police Department Jet-Ski was also later launched.

For approximately 2 hours, the individual refused to exit the water or comply with police. The Worcester Police Crisis Intervention Team also attempted unsuccessfully to persuade the male to exit the water.

At approximately 12:10PM Lieutenant Caviston and Detective Chysna, who had deployed the SPD Jet-Ski, made the decision to jump into the water to physically es**rt the male to safety. The male was brought to shore, handcuffed, and then loaded onto the Shrewsbury Police Boat. He was transported to the docks at Regatta Point, where he was transferred to an awaiting ambulance.

Several Shrewsbury officers on land responded, as well as the Shrewsbury Police Department Drone Unit and the Massachusetts Environmental Police. We thank all of our partners from this multi-agency effort for working together for a safe outcome.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today, we honor and remember the courageous service members who gave their lives in defense of our country and our freedoms.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It is a solemn reminder of the sacrifice made by so many brave men and women who never returned home. Their dedication, courage, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
