The Cheyenne County Veterans Service Office is looking for dedicated volunteers to drive our DAV van, transporting area veterans to the Cheyenne VA Medical Center. Just a couple of days a month can make a huge difference. We work with your availability and provide your schedule months in advance making it easy to plan around your commitments.

⚠️⚠️ 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗩𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗦 ⚠️⚠️

We've been asked by the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs to help spread the word about a scam currently targeting Veterans.

Some Veterans have reported receiving messages and emails promoting a "Free Athletic Shoes from VA" program. This is 𝐍𝐎𝐓 a legitimate VA offer and appears to be using the VA name and logo to gain personal information.

𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐍𝐎𝐓:
❌ Click links in emails about free athletic shoes
❌ Create accounts through unsolicited links
❌ Provide personal or financial information

If you have already interacted with one of these messages, please report it to the VA Office of Inspector General Fraud Hotline at 1-800-488-8244 or online at va.gov/oig.

There is a legitimate process for Veterans to receive shoes through VA, but it must be 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧. If you believe you have a condition that may qualify, please discuss it with your VA primary provider.

Last night, Cindy with the Sidney NE Elk's Lodge No. 1894 presented the Cheyenne County Veterans Service Office with a $1,500 Freedom Grant to help assist local veterans with utility bills.

We are incredibly thankful for organizations like the Elks Lodge that continue to step up for our veteran community in meaningful ways. Their support goes far beyond words. They consistently look for ways to help, serve, and give back to the men and women who have served our country.

This funding will now be available to assist eligible veterans in our area who may be struggling with utility expenses. If you or a veteran you know is in need of assistance, please contact our office for more information.

Thank you again to Cindy and the Sidney NE Elk's Lodge No. 1894 for your continued support of veterans in Cheyenne County.

There is less than 30 days to file your Personal Property with the Assessor’s Office!

We offer 3 Options of filing your Personal Property Return with our office:

1. Come into our office with your Personal Property forms and DEPRECIATION SCHEDULE.

2. Mail us your Personal Property form and DEPRECIATION SCHEDULE. (Our address is 1000 10th AVE PO BOX 217 Sidney, NE 69162)

3. File Online: www.personalpropertyonline.us by attaching your DEPRECIATION SCHEDULE and using the PIN # located after your Schedule #170—in the upper right-hand corner of your Personal Property form.

DEADLINE TO FILE IS MAY 1ST, 2026! If you file AFTER May 1st, your existing items and new items will receive a 10% Penalty.
