🌧️ With all this rain, remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown! 🚗💦

Heavy rain can quickly lead to standing water and flooded roadways. Even if the water doesn’t look deep, never attempt to drive through it. What looks safe can become dangerous very quickly.

⚠️ Keep these important roadway safety tips in mind:

🚫 Turn Around, Don’t Drown: Never drive through standing or flowing water. Find another route.

🚧 Respect Barricades: Never move or drive around “Road Closed” signs, barricades, or cones. The roadway underneath the water could be damaged or completely washed out.

💧 Don’t Trust the Depth: You cannot accurately judge how deep the water is or see the condition of the pavement beneath it.

🚗 Watch for Hydroplaning: Standing water can cause your tires to lose contact with the road, resulting in a sudden loss of steering and braking control.

No destination is worth risking your safety. If you come across a flooded roadway, turn around and find another way.

Stay safe, Shelby County! 💙

🚌🎒 Back to School Means Back to Safety! 🎒🚌

School will be starting back soon, which means our roads will once again be busy with school buses, young drivers, parents dropping off children, and students walking or biking to school.

Let’s work together as a community to keep our kids safe! ❤️

🚗 Slow down and stay alert in school zones
🚌 Always stop for school buses when required
🚸 Watch carefully for children crossing the street
🚲 Give kids on bikes and scooters plenty of space
📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road
⏰ Give yourself a few extra minutes so you’re not rushing

Whether you’re driving to work, taking your own children to school, or simply traveling through town, a little extra patience and attention can make a big difference.

🎥 Take a moment to watch and share this important video as we prepare for another school year. https://youtu.be/NU4jGmLmbMc?si=AlBTyCzjnUbfGtyl

Complex medical needs shouldn't stand in the way of getting the care your child deserves. 💙

The Ohio Department of Health's Complex Medical Help (CMH) Program helps eligible individuals under the age of 26 with special health care needs connect to specialized medical providers and may assist with the cost of medically necessary services.

CMH may be able to help with:
✅ Diagnostic testing to identify health conditions
✅ Treatment for qualifying medical diagnoses
✅ Care coordination for certain complex medical conditions

If your child has a qualifying medical condition—or you're not sure if they may be eligible—our Public Health Nurses are here to help guide you through the application process and answer your questions.
