With the cold temperatures we’ve been having and the very low water temperatures, please use extra caution this weekend if you’re out boating.

Cold water can become dangerous very quickly, even on warmer days. Please wear a life jacket and make sure everyone on board is prepared before heading out on the water.

Stay safe and enjoy the weekend.

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of a fellow firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice while battling the lumberyard fire in Searsmont today. Several other firefighters were also seriously injured during this tragic incident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the fallen firefighter’s family, the injured firefighters, and all of the departments and communities affected by this devastating loss.

We also keep in our hearts the brothers and sisters of the fire service who responded and now carry the weight of this tragedy.

Rest easy, brother. Your courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten. We have it from here. 🚒💔🙏

Today, communities across central Maine stood together on overpasses in Sidney and surrounding towns to pay tribute to Maine Game Warden Joshua Tibbetts as he was escorted home to his hometown. With American flags waving and heads bowed, family, friends, fellow wardens, law enforcement, first responders, and residents lined the route to honor a man who dedicated his life to protecting others and serving the people of Maine. It was a powerful and emotional show of respect for a true public servant who will never be forgotten.
