Madame Why has been gazing into her crystal ball and wondering why YOU have not purchased your tickets for the 5th annual Spooktacular Bash on Oct 24th. This not-to-be-missed experience includes a full dinner by Pizzeria Mimosa, cocktail hour with scary appetizers by West End Catering, luscious desserts by Buena HS Culinary Art Chefs, music and dancing by Pawaradise and DJ Ray, silent auction, raffles, split the pot and much more. With meteorological fall right around the corner it’s time to get your tickets and make plans to attend the Education Foundation’s 5th annual Spooktacular Bash on Oct 24th from 6:00 a 10:00 pm at Stan Greer’s Old Door Shop. Our delectable dinner with be provided by the generosity of Pizzaria Mimosa. Tickets are $60 each and in addition to dinner you will enjoy a spooky appetizer array by West End Catering, delicious desserts by Buena HS culinary chefs, two drink tickets, music by Parawdise DJ, dancing, costume contest with prizes, silent auction, raffles and more. An apple for the teacher is still a popular idea and the Education Foundation is a strong believer in this adage. Our SVUSD schools open August 5th so the Foundation lovingly washed, dried, and delivered bright, shiny red apples to every single SVUSD employee letting them know how much they are valued, wishing them a great academic year. Our teachers are above the best!

Of the many things that make the District GREAT are the exciting ideas our teachers have in store for their students… and we at the Foundation along with our partners at the SSVEC Foundation help by providing microgrants up to $999 for those special projects that make education unforgettable. Attached you will find our flyer with all the important information (these will also be posted in all your teacher lounges) along with application links. The application process is new, streamlined and EASY! Help spread the word!

Recently Dawn Wolslagel, Culinary Arts Teacher at Joyce Clark Middle School, received one of our Inspiration Boosts for her classroom. Education Foundation members were invited to see her “pretzel project” in action. Students learned about dough leavening agents also preparing a “cold rise” method for their pretzel dough to be rolled, pinched and shaped into delicious, tender pretzels the next day, which they shared with each other and with our board members. How gratifying to observe the interest of the students learning life skills while having fun. Well done everyone!

The Education Foundation is proud to have sponsored the SVUSD annual employee recognition where 38 teachers and staff members’ service was honored. Thirteen employees are retiring at the end of this academic year and 390 years of collective service was celebrated. Many of our board members are retired teachers and understand the commitment these great educators and staff members provided to our community. Congratulations everyone and enjoy some photos from the event in the video.
