As one chapter comes to a close, another begins.

Thank you to Chief Jones for your service to our department and community. We wish you the very best in retirement.

After serving as Interim Fire Chief over the past month, today Chief Dever officially assumes the role of Fire Chief. Congratulations on this well-earned milestone.

Local 4492 looks forward to continuing our work together as we build a department that is safer, healthier, and stronger for the benefit of our members and the community we proudly serve. Together, we will continue moving the mission forward.

Our Executive Board (including newly elected President Workman and Vice President Derfus) + Local 4492 members are honored to be attending the Arizona Professional Firefighters annual convention in Tucson. Looking forward to fresh perspectives, new connections, and familiar faces.

L4492 is proud to recognize our Deputy Chief, Dr. Bradley Dever, on earning his PhD.

His dedication to the job, to this department, and to the fire service as a whole sets a strong example for all of us.

Well earned 🚒

Firefighters don’t just risk their lives in emergencies, they carry long-term health risks from years of toxic exposure on the job.

Today, L4492 and Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services addressed City Council about job-related cancers affecting local firefighters and the urgent need for clear policies that protect them when they get sick.

Click the link in our story or this post, or visit today’s City council work session on YouTube. Starting at 30:05, union and department leaders explain real diagnoses, state law, and a proposed policy that would ensure firefighters aren’t left wondering how to pay for life-saving cancer treatment.

As our union president said, this is about someone with a family, facing cancer after 17 years of service. This is why representation matters. This is why policy matters. Lives are on the line.

The City will present its proposed policy on February 10. Now is the time to pay attention and speak up.

This is what community looks like. We are thankful for every business, organization, and individual who contributes to the Firefighters Christmas Toy Drive. The time, effort, and generosity poured into making Christmas special for local kids does not go unnoticed.

Huge thanks to , longtime supporters of the Professional Firefighters of Sierra Vista, for continuing to step up and create opportunities for their patrons to give back. Tonight’s truckload of toys is a perfect example of the impact one business can make.

Did you meet us out at a toy drive? Did you participate in the hot cocoa stand, or are you donating toys? Send us a pic or tag us in your posts so we can share the holiday spirit. 🎄🚒
