Good morning neighbors,
On Monday, I shared that this Election Day would likely be one none of us would soon forget. It’s certainly shaping up to be that way.
Last night, our votes fell short, but our efforts certainly didn’t. By a narrow margin of 62 votes, Vice Mayor Lee Davis was elected as your Mayor, garnering 52% of the vote to our 48%.
To our volunteers, our donors, to those that spent the full day, from sunrise to sunset with us yesterday, thank you. To the 591 residents that cast a ballot in my favor, thank you. And to the entire Walden community, it has been an absolute privilege to serve you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To my wonderful family, I couldn’t have done this without you. To my son, Wil Trohanis thank you for helping me navigate the wild world of political social media, surprising us on Election Eve, and being with us all all day yesterday. Finally, to my adoring, patient, and pavement-pounding wife, Jean, thank you. Your encouragement and your dedication not only to Walden, but to the entire Signal Mountain community, is truly incredible. I couldn’t imagine spending a day without you through the past 40 years.
For those of you disappointed by the outcome of this race, your voices must be heard. Please continue to speak up, write in, and make your positions known through Town Meetings and any other accessible forums. Unfortunately, our town remains divided on an important issue, and your opinions deserve consideration.
Congratulations to Vice Mayor Davis on a hard-fought race, and I wish him all the best as your new Mayor. I assure you I’ll cooperate to ensure as smooth of a transition as possible.
Thank you again for the privilege to serve this amazing town for the past 8 years.
With warm regards and hope for the days ahead,
Mayor William Trohanis
