UPDATED: Have you ever thought about serving on the Signal Mountain Town Council?

In 2026, four Town Council seats will be on the ballot, and there’s still time to consider whether public service might be the right fit for you!

Town Council members help establish policies, shape the Town’s long-term vision, approve budgets, adopt ordinances and resolutions, and represent the interests of Signal Mountain residents.

A five-member Council is elected by Town voters with three of the five members running every two years on even numbered years, matching the national elections. Of the three top vote getters, two receive four-year terms and one (the third place finisher) receives a two-year term.

Interested in running?
Nominating petitions available: June 22, 2026
Qualifying deadline: August 20, 2026 at 12:00 noon
Election Day: November 3, 2026

Candidates must be at least 18, be a U.S. and Tennessee citizen, be a registered voter, and be a bona fide resident of the Town of Signal Mountain. Candidates must also obtain at least 25 signatures from registered voters eligible to vote for Town Council and complete the required ethics and campaign finance filings.

Application and petitions available at:

As we've had an influx of door-to-door solicitors recently, we'd like to share an important reminder with our community.

At this time, Aptive Environmental is the only company with an active solicitor's permit issued by the Town of Signal Mountain.

If someone comes to your door selling products or services, you have the right to ask to see their Town-issued permit. A valid permit will:

* Include the Town of Signal Mountain seal as a watermark.
* Display a photo of the solicitor.

If a solicitor cannot produce a valid permit, or if something simply doesn't feel right, please contact the Signal Mountain Police Department's non-emergency number at (423) 886-2123.

As always, if you see something, say something. We'd much rather investigate a concern than have someone take advantage of our community!
