Posts like this remind us why accessibility matters.

A handicap accessible playground means a child using a wheelchair can reach the top of the slide. It means a parent doesn’t have to lift their child onto equipment not designed for them. It means siblings can play together instead of apart.

Accessibility isn’t about special treatment — it’s about equal opportunity to experience joy, friendship, and independence.

The Dahlia Playground will ensure that every child in Signal Mountain has access to play, not just some.

We’re grateful to see the Dahlia Playground included in Hamilton County’s Small-Town Grant Matching Program. This investment will help transform Althaus Park into an inclusive space where children of all abilities can play together and every family feels welcome.

County support is a huge step forward—but we still need the community to help us reach the finish line.

The Town of Signal Mountain & the City of Red Bank are the latest municipalities to benefit from Hamilton County’s Small-Town Grant Matching Program.

Signal’s Althaus Park will see major improvements to support the new inclusive Dahlia Playground, while recreational enhancements in Red Bank will help deliver the city’s first public basketball court.

Through these partnerships, the county is investing in the community assets that strengthen neighborhoods & celebrate what makes each town unique.
