Flood Watch
FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING TO LATE SATURDAY NIGHT..The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a Flood
Watch for the following rivers in Iowa...

North Skunk River near Sigourney affecting Keokuk County.

Skunk River at Augusta affecting Henry IA, Des Moines and Lee
Counties.
Another round of heavy rainfall is expected tonight into Saturday
morning. There is still some uncertainty regarding where the heaviest
rain will fall. However, the ground is already moist so any heavy
rain will quickly runoff into area waterways.

* WHAT...Flooding is possible.

* WHERE...North Skunk River near Sigourney.

* WHEN...From Saturday evening to late Saturday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:30 PM CDT Friday the stage was 6.1 feet.
- Forecast...Flood stage may be reached tomorrow evening.
- Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
If you are in the watch area, remain alert to possible flooding.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Keokuk County in southeastern Iowa...
Washington County in southeastern Iowa...

* Until 1130 AM CDT.

* At 533 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Washington, Sigourney, Kalona, Wellman, Riverside, Hedrick,
Brighton, What Cheer, Richland, Ainsworth, Delta, Crawfordsville,
Keswick, South English, Harper, Martinsburg, Kinross, Hayesville
and Coppock.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* Tornado Warning for...
Southeastern Keokuk County in southeastern Iowa...
Southwestern Washington County in southeastern Iowa...
Northern Jefferson County in southeastern Iowa...

* Until 1000 AM CDT.

* At 910 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over Pekin, or 11 miles south of Sigourney, moving east
at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
Richland, Packwood, Abingdon, Ollie, and Linby around 915 AM CDT.
Lake Darling State Park and Rubio around 920 AM CDT.
Brighton, Pleasant Plain, Perlee, and East Pleasant Plain around
925 AM CDT.

Other locations in the path of this tornadic thunderstorm include
Germanville.

* At 851 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Barnes City to near Ottumwa Industrial Airport
to near Blakesburg, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Fairfield, Sigourney, Hedrick, What Cheer, Richland, Batavia,
Delta, Libertyville, Maharishi Vedic City, Packwood, Harper,

Several rounds of heavy rain producing thunderstorms today through
Friday may produce flash flooding, as well as rises on area creeks
and rivers.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas,
Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, Mercer and Warren, southeast Iowa,
including the following areas, Des Moines, Henry IA, Jefferson,
Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Van Buren and Washington, and northeast
Missouri, including the following areas, Clark and Scotland.

* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT this morning through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A large system of thunderstorms with heavy rainfall moving across
the area this morning and midday, followed by more rounds of
storms tonight into Friday morning may produce several inches of
rainfall and eventual flooding problems.

or 11 miles east of Sigourney, moving southeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Washington, Wayland, Brighton, Richland, Lockridge, Olds, Pleasant
