Why You Won’t See Food Trucks at the Keokuk County Farmers Market This Year

At Keokuk County Economic Development, our mission is simple: grow our local economy and strengthen the businesses that support our communities every single day.

This year, we made the decision to pause outside food trucks at the farmers market — and we want to share the “why” behind that choice.

Here’s the bigger picture:

· Local restaurants — the ones who hire our friends and neighbors, pay local taxes, sponsor ball teams, donate to school events, and step up when the need arises were losing business on market nights.

· Food trucks from outside the county were taking dollars out of Keokuk County instead of circulating them here where they make a difference.

· Our mission is to support the long-term health of our local economy. Every decision we make has to align with that goal.

· Farmers markets exist to lift up local growers, makers, and businesses — and we’re committed to keeping that focus strong.

We know change can be frustrating, especially when people enjoyed grabbing food at the market. But this decision wasn’t about taking something away — it was about protecting the businesses that keep our communities thriving all year long.

We appreciate everyone who shows up, shops local, and supports the people who make Keokuk County such a great place to live. Thank you for seeing the bigger picture with us.
