Ew! It's that time of year - ticks are crawling. Thankfully, the highest prevalence of Lyme disease in the United States is typically north and east of Missouri, but it's important to remain vigilant of a potentially infectious bite. Most cases of Lyme disease can be treated successfully with antibiotics. Cases are known to cause fever, headache, fatigue and a target-like rash called erythema migrans.

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month - we are taking this opportunity to highlight all tick-borne illnesses!

You can protect yourself regardless of the tick-borne disease by:
- Avoiding brushy or wooded areas
- Removing ticks promptly
- Showering after being outdoors
- Clearing tall grass and brush around your home
- Using insect repellent & pesticides according to the label

A tick is smaller than a poppy seed, but its bite can carry babesiosis, a potentially serious parasitic disease. https://bit.ly/mm7211a1
