๐Ÿšฐ BMU is partnering with our community to get the lead out!
You can hire a plumber to inspect your service line and other plumbing that comes into contact with your drinking water. You can also do a check yourself. To identify your service line, locate the pipe where it enters your home. If it is lead, it will have a dull gray finish that becomes shiny when gently scratched with a key or coin. A strong magnet will NOT stick to lead. If you identify your service line material, please let us know by completing our survey:

The only way to know for certain whether your drinking water contains lead is to have it tested by a certified laboratory. BMU uses Environmental Analysis South, 4000 E. Jackson Blvd., Jackson, MO. For information about testing, call (573) 204-8817. The current cost for a lead and copper analysis is approximately $87.
