🧡 Feliz mes del orgullo! Pride Month is a time to celebrate the many identities, experiences, and stories that make our communities stronger.

✊🏽To our LGBTQ+ community: your leadership, resilience, and lived experiences are an important part of who we are. You should never have to choose between parts of your identity. Your full self belongs in every space. Your authenticity is a strength, not something to hide.

🌈 ¡Vive con orgullo!

Last week, our team joined the Belk Center () and partners from across North Carolina for a day of reflection, connection, and collective visioning for the future of education in our state.

🌱We left reminded of something that we know to be true: meaningful change does not happen in isolation. It happens through relationships. Through partnerships. Through people who are willing to work together around a shared belief that our students deserve the opportunity to thrive. Creating stronger pathways for Latine students requires all of us, educators, advocates, institutions, and partners.

🧡We're grateful to the entire Belk Center team for hosting us and welcoming us into their space. Thank you to our partners for honest conversation, shared learning, and collaboration. We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful to be building it together.

🎓 There’s something special about being in a room filled with educators of color who understand the responsibility, joy, and purpose that comes with serving our students and communities.

🚀LatinxEd team members attended the 2026 Summit, a space rooted in affirmation, connection, advocacy, and leadership. Grounded in the theme Sankofa: Looking Back to the Future, this year the summit invited us to reflect on the wisdom, resilience, and lessons of those who came before us while imagining what is possible for the generations coming after us.

🦋 We left energized by the conversations, relationships, and shared commitment to creating schools where not only do our students feel seen, supported, but our educators do too.

🧡 Thank you CREED for creating safe spaces for educators of color and sustaining this much needed gathering year after year. We are grateful to be in comunidad with so many leaders committed to expanding opportunity and strengthening education across North Carolina.

🧡 Our Executive Director, Andrea Freile, was invited to attend the Holshouser Legislators Retreat, where she had the opportunity to engage in honest conversation, reflection, and connection across sectors and perspectives.

The room was filled with policymakers, educators, and community leaders from across North Carolina who, like us, are thinking deeply about the future of our state and the students who will shape it.

🌱 One of Andrea’s biggest takeaways: as North Carolina continues to lead in business and innovation, education must remain at the center of conversations about our future. Today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce, leaders, and changemakers.

🧡Meaningful change in education happens through relationships building between organizations, legislators, educators, and communities. We’re grateful to The Hunt Institute for inviting us and creating spaces that bring people together in service of stronger futures for North Carolina students.

🚀 Our Executive Director, Andrea Freile, recently participated in the Legacy, Learning and Justice Journey: NC Leaders Explore Montgomery, an experience through spaces in Montgomery, Alabama that hold some of the most painful truths about this country’s history.

🌱Throughout the journey came a reminder that while many of these inequities are often spoken about as history, their impact sadly continues to shape our present. For Latine students and families across North Carolina, these realities show up in underfunded schools, language barriers, limited representation, and systems that too often fail to fully support our communities.

🧡 We’re deeply grateful to the Wellcome Fund, Global NC, and Wake County Remembrance Project for creating space for truth-telling, and honest conversations critical to the continuation of advocating for education systems where every student is seen and supported.

🧡Today and every day, we celebrate you. ¡Gracias, maestras y maestros!

Even in the face of tight budgets, growing demands, and systems that too often ask educators to do more with less, you continue showing up for students and families across North Carolina.

🌱 You create stability where there is uncertainty, belonging where there is exclusion, and hope in moments that feel heavy.

🦋 We see your care, your persistence, and the commitment you bring into every classroom, conversation, and opportunity you create for young people.

🎓 Thank you for believing in our students, advocating for their futures, and helping shape spaces where they can thrive.

🧡 Hoy y todos los días, te celebramos. ¡Gracias, maestras y maestros!

🧡 If you’ve been part of the LatinxEd community for a while, then you probably already know Andrea V. Freile, not just as our new Executive Director, but as someone who has grown alongside this community for years.

📺In this episode of “Get to Know Our ED”, Andrea reflects on what it means to lead with vision, purpose, and freedom dreaming the belief that the futures we imagine for our students and families are possible when we build together.

🦋 As a former LatinxEd Fellow, she has experienced our community from so many angles: learning within it, growing through it, and now helping lead it into its next chapter. That journey continues to shape how she shows up with intention, care, and a deep commitment to our people.
