Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians (CTSI) is a federally recognized Tribe in Oregon. Our ancestors signed many treaties with the United States.

We the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians are the most diverse confederation of Tribes and Bands on a single reservation in the United States. Our ancestors spoke 10 completely different languages, each of which had multiple dialects. Our ancestors brought with them deep connections to more than 20 million acres of ancestral territory combined, including all of Western Oregon from the summit of

the Cascade mountains to the Pacific and extending into what’s now SW Washington State and northern California. We were promised the 1.1 million acres Siletz Reservation as our permanent home, but following massive reservation reductions Congress passed the Western Oregon Termination Act in 1954 (took effect in 1956), and our federally recognized status as a tribe was also taken. In 1977 our lobbying of Congress to repeal our Termination was successful, and we became the second formerly Terminated Tribe to regain federal recognition as a Tribe.

CTSI Tourism Plan, development survey and community discussion meeting

Tribal staff are exploring opportunities to strategize tribal tourism in ways that benefit our membership, strengthen our community, and create new revenue streams that will serve us.

We invite all Siletz Tribal Members to take part in our Tourism Plan Development Survey and share their ideas about the types of tourism experiences they would like to have about the types of tourism experiences and overall strategy they would like to prioritize.

The survey takes only a few minutes to complete but brings vital input to our planning. At the end, participants can opt in to be entered into a drawing for a $200 gift card.

The survey closes September 30, 2026. Tribal Members are also encouraged to participate in a community discussion with the tourism development team on September 3, 2026, at 5 p.m. Pacific Time via Zoom.

Are you a registered CTSI JOM student within the 11-county service area? If so, you can get a $75 gift card for school supplies! The program is currently open and runs to Friday, October 30.

📋The Three Step Application Process:

1. Submit a JOM Application (see below) for the 2026-2027 academic year to your local Education Specialist.
2. Register via Microsoft Forms application, sent after the completion of a JOM application.
3. Sign for and pick up the gift card with your local Education Specialist.

CTSI and ODFW are hosting a Hunters Education Field Day at 8 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Big Timber Gun Range in Siletz. This in-person class is the final step to complete hunter safety training. All youth 17 and under are required to take the complete training to hunt.

Before attending our field day, participants must take an online Hunter Safety Course.

The Natural Resources Department will be distributing summer steelhead to Tribal Members. The distribution will be at Chinook Winds Casino behind the Veterans Memorial Monument.
