WE HAVE BIG NEWS!!!

On March 10, libraries from the Chinook Library Network (Toledo, Waldport, Siletz, and Clatsop, and the Tillamook and Oregon Coast Community Colleges) and the Oceanbooks Network (Newport, Driftwood, and Tillamook County Libraries) are merging into one system and will use one common catalog.

You will see our library catalog in a fresh, new way- the link will be coming soon.

Patrons will have access to a much larger selection of books and DVDs, and more (using our courier system) and, of course, will still be able to enjoy ebooks and audiobooks through Libby.

Please ask at the Siletz Library if you need help navigating the new page. You should be able to use your current library card number and pin, the same as always.

Sealant Coat & Fresh Paint Applied!

As of April 17th the library parking lot is much improved. Now the area in front of the book drop is clearly marked as “no parking” (people have often idled there to check email). There is a clearly marked parking spot with a strong WiFi signal.

The total cost for the project was $5,855.75. This was $900 over the original estimate because we added “No Parking” curb signs and “WiFi Parking” signage. The Lincoln County Cultural Coalition provided $1,600 via an SVFOL grant request and Lincoln County Commissioner Kaety Jacobson donated $1,000 from Lincoln County funds. SVFOL provided the remainder from fundraisers.

The sealant coat will extend the life of our parking lot by several years. The original paving was completed 17 years ago when the library was built.

We also want to give a shout out to Taylor Plesha and his crew from Allen’s Lot Maintenance in Newport. They did a great job on the project and were nice guys to work with.

"For National Library Week, we celebrate the Siletz Public Library. The Siletz Library was built by the Siletz Valley Friends of the Library and donated to the City of Siletz. Today, the city owns the building and the Friends continue to make improvements and contribute to programs for children, teens, and adults - making even more library friends! Your tax funds for the Lincoln County Library District help by directly funding library staffing, books, computers, and courier delivery 5 days a week!"

You can help your Siletz Library by signing this letter of support for ballot measure 21-222, which will be voted on in the May 21 election. A vote of YES will allow the Lincoln County Library District to continue its current level of services for Lincoln County residents and libraries, and will not raise your property taxes. Please print and share this letter. Letters with your signature, showing your support, can be dropped at the Siletz Library.
