TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

The Town of Silt Police Department would like to notify residents and travelers of a temporary road closure tomorrow, Monday, May 25, beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The intersection of N 1st Street and Main Street will be closed to all eastbound and westbound traffic for approximately 20 minutes as the Memorial Day riders travel through town heading east toward New Castle.

Additionally, traffic entering or leaving Silt from the N 9th Street roundabout may be temporarily diverted or stopped during the procession.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, expect short delays, and use alternate routes when possible.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we honor the Memorial Day riders’ passage through our community.

Two New Officers Join Silt Police Department Following Academy Graduation and Swearing-In

Silt, Colorado — May 4, 2026 — The Silt Police Department is proud to announce the addition of two new officers, F. Estrada and T. Portwood, who officially joined the department following their successful completion of the police academy on May 1, 2026, and their swearing-in ceremony held today.

Officers Estrada and Portwood have completed extensive training in law enforcement procedures, community policing, emergency response, and public safety. Their graduation from the academy marks a significant milestone in their commitment to serving and protecting the community.

The officers will begin their field training immediately, working alongside experienced personnel as they transition into their new roles. The Silt Police Department remains committed to fostering strong relationships with the community and maintaining the highest standards of public service.

Please join us in welcoming Officers Estrada and Portwood as they begin their careers in law enforcement.

🚨 Scam Alert 🚨

The Silt Police Department has been made aware of a scam circulating in our area. Residents have reported receiving text messages claiming they have unpaid speeding, parking, or toll citations.

These messages are fraudulent. Do not click on any links or provide payment or personal information in response to these texts or phone calls.

Official citation notices are not sent via text message. If you are unsure about a citation, please contact the appropriate agency directly using a verified phone number.

If you receive one of these messages, delete it and report it. If you need to speak with an officer reference one of these text messages please contact the Silt Police Department at (970)876-2735.

SILT POLICE DEPARTMENT — PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
The Silt Police Department is advising the public of a temporary road closure occurring Tuesday November 25:

📍 Road Closure Information
• Main Street will be CLOSED from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
• The closure will extend from N 9th Street through N 1st Street.
• All through-traffic will be rerouted to Grand Avenue.

🚗 Detour for Interstate Traffic
• Vehicles entering Silt from I-70 traveling westbound will be diverted to N 16th Street and onto Grand Avenue.

👮 Officers On-Site
Silt Police officers will be stationed at key intersections to assist drivers and help maintain traffic flow throughout the closure.

⏱ Please Expect Delays
We encourage all motorists to plan extra travel time, use caution in detour areas, and follow all posted signs and officer instructions.
