The last update I saw and copied on the missing couple - from the nephew Travis Peters
UPDATE 7:30pm EDT:
Hello everyone. I just had a long conversation with the deputy in charge of the search and rescue efforts. I cannot thank him and his team enough.
We are still searching for Ron and Bev. I do have some information for everyone, as well as some instructions for anyone wanting to aid in the search efforts. Originally, we had cell pings from the Dyer and Silver Peak areas, we now believe those to not be accurate. Authorities are very confident that the last cell ping was from the cell tower at Coaldale. Under perfect conditions the Coaldale tower could get a hit from nearly 50 miles away. It's not likely to be that far but it is possible so we are now widening the search area to be within 50 miles of Coaldale. I'm including a map that shows just how large that radius is.
Next, we are now asking that anyone who has the ability to search, to please do so safely, but do so on your own. There is so much interest and willingness to help it's simply best to look at the map, pick an area and search it. Even if multiple people have traveled the same road, you never know when the sun may reflect off the RV in the distance and only you were there at the right time to see the flicker. Focus your attention on where an RV could possibly go. Don't waste time driving an atv trail or a narrow 2-track lane. Ron and Bev are in a 32' long RV with a car in tow. It is big, it is wide.... they aren't going up roads that a 4 wheel drive truck can barely go. There is a lot of attention being placed South of the Hawthorne over to Luning area, so if you are in that area please be on the look out, but we need an equal amount of eye in every direction of Coaldale.
This is when it gets tough... most of the obvious places have had multiple searches, they are in a place that we just haven't looked so we ask that you go find those places. We know that with Monday brings the fact that many have to go back to work and we understand and thank you for your help! We cannot let this fade into a "I wonder what ever happened" story. We need to keep sharing this post, we need to keep looking and providing tips. Ronnie and Beverly are out there in the desert waiting for rescue. They haven't drove out and are in Vegas or Arizona. The moment their cell devices can hit a tower we will know where they are. We must focus on putting boots on the ground and hopefully eyes in the skies over the Nevada desert. Thank you for the prayers and efforts. Even though we are over 2,000 miles away we feel everyone's presence in helping bring Ronnie and Beverly back home! Thank you!
