CEPH adopts revised accreditation criteria! Check out the standards, data templates, implementation schedule and training timeline on our website.

Highlights of the revisions are as follows:

• Moved curricular expectations from a course-based topical framework to a framework based on knowledge and skills for practice to ensure that every public health student, no matter the degree level, graduates with a solid foundation in important practice competencies
• Eliminated many prescriptive requirements to allow for greater innovation and flexibility based on a school or program’s mission and context
• Reduced reporting requirements in many areas to focus on student achievement and other outcomes rather than inputs

All schools and programs must demonstrate compliance no later than December 31, 2018. All accredited and applicant schools and programs will receive an individualized letter from CEPH by December 1, 2016 that explains specifically what needs to be done.

CEPH will release a second draft of its proposed revised curriculum criteria along with a first draft of its proposed revised criteria addressing all other areas. These documents will be released as soon as possible after the Council’s meeting concludes on October 24 and no later than November 10.

CEPH has added another resource to its website about the draft curricular expectations. You'll find a chart that compares the skills CEPH has defined to other processes conducted recently in the field as well as three schematics to help you think about incorporating these skills and content into your curriculum.

As always, questions and comments are welcome. The public comment period is open until September 18, 2015 and we'd love to hear from you!

CEPH Deputy Director Mollie Mulvanity dominates Oxford Debate at the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA) spring conference! Mollie's team took the "pro" position about whether the greater use of technology will enhance quality assurance processes in accreditation. Great job, Mollie!
