MVMA The Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association (MVMA) is dedicated to advancing the Vietnamese community Mr. He also served as the U.S. As a Maryland native, Mr.

Started in 1982 by a group of volunteers to aid refugee resettlement, the Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association (MVMA) is the oldest Vietnamese American community-based organization in Maryland. MVMA has assisted refugees and immigrants of all backgrounds secure housing, find jobs, and study for U.S citizenship exams. In its approach, MVMA implements the following three cornerstones:

1. Empoweri

ng families and seniors through direct services and providing access to government and private programs;
2. Advocating for social and economic equality by building awareness, capacity, and solidarity within the community;
3. Unifying multiple generations of Vietnamese Americans by promoting cultural traditions, history, art, and language. Effective April 1, 2025, Robert Riley has taken on the role of Executive Director at the Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association. Riley brings a wealth of experience from his time in the Peace Corps and the Foreign Service, which included two years in Vietnam. Ambassador to Micronesia and most recently was the Chief Operating Officer for the East-West Center in Honolulu. Riley is excited to be back in his home state.
