From its inception, CPDC has understood that communities are more than well-designed buildings, classrooms, computer labs, and meeting rooms that help nurture growth and development. Contributing to the health and vibrancy of communities are people of all ages and walks of life who leverage their skills, goals, knowledge, and inner strengths to create lasting change. In fostering the spirit of col

lective impact, volunteerism has been vital to our engagement strategy. In 2006, CPDC launched a robust volunteer program that formalized the process of recruiting, screening, training, and placing volunteers in CPDC communities. This process ensured that potential volunteers were successfully matched with the unique needs of each community. Since then, CPDC, has leveraged over 120,000 hours in volunteer time and continues to engage nearly 150 volunteers annually to support initiatives across each of our five impact areas. CPDC engages volunteers from diverse backgrounds and experiences, bringing fresh ideas, alternative strategies, and additional services. Our corps of volunteers are the bridge between CPDC residents and staff; the support volunteers provide allow CPDC to reach strategic goals that much faster. Follow on all our social media accounts.

CPDC Volunteer Engagement is shouting out CPDC Heights for making a difference in their community! 40 resident volunteers came out last saturday to volunteer over 140 hours to clean up the entire Cedar Heights grounds and the road leading into Cedar Heights. Their strangest find was a car seat (like, for a baby) and they removed over 12 bags of trash from the whole area. Thanks for for keeping the community

Check out the photos from our 2016 Volunteer Recognition Ceremony hosted during National Volunteer Week. Over 150 people attended to celebrate the 27,300 hours of service contributed by more than 329 volunteers in 2015. 60 volunteers received President's Volunteer Service Awards ( )in honor of their significant service contributions to CPDC communities.

Stony Brook Volunteer Interns enjoyed a white house tour to close out their summer after serving nearly 1000 hours this summer to provide summer camps for younger youth and a host of activities for the community including ice cream social, pancake breakfasts, and field days.
