π Celebrating 34 Years of Compassion and Care at Walter Reed Army Fisher House π
Today, we proudly celebrate the 34th anniversary of the Walter Reed Army Fisher House at Forest Glen, the very first Fisher House ever opened for the U.S. Army.
Since its doors opened in 1991, this house has been a sanctuary of comfort, dignity, and support for thousands of military families during some of their most challenging times. Located on the grounds of what was once Walter Reed Army Medical Center, this Fisher House became the model for a program that now serves military families across the globe.
This legacy began thanks to the vision, generosity, and unwavering patriotism of Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher, whose commitment to caring for those who serve our nation has changed countless lives. Alongside them stood Pauline Trost, wife of then-Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Carlisle Trost, whose compassion and leadership helped turn the Fishersβ dream into a reality.
Together, they laid the foundation for a program that has provided millions of nights of lodging for families of wounded, ill, and injured service members at no cost to them.
To all who have supported, volunteered, and called this house a home over the past 34 years, thank you. Your dedication has kept the spirit of the Fisher House alive and thriving.
Hereβs to 34 years of love, support, and service and to many more to come ππ πΊπΈ
