Hello All!
Once again I apologize for the long pause between updates!

I'd like to also introduce the new family car, our barn found 1949 Pontiac which we now drive daily. great match don't you think?

Right now were in the planning stage for preparations to relocate the house. our goal is in September of this year.

I have been working very long hours to earn as much funds as I can to help cover the upcoming expenses such as the move itself, the foundation and a new roof. (estimate total around 75K)

I'm also still hunting for an architect to work with on drafting plans to recreate the kitchen end of the house and final plans for the foundation.

Our goals are to relocate the house, build/place it on its foundation which will give it a basement to help hide the mechanical aspects of the home. and them replace the roof.

Hopes are that come this time next year we will be well underway with exterior and interior restoration, Not sure that we will begin right away with the addition work given the high costs of Lumber in America at the moment.

I will do my best to post more updates as the planning process finishes up. but rest assured, were working every day to make it happen!

Thanks much and see you soon.

Hello all,

I'm sorry its been some time since we've given an update.

It was one year ago today our story was published regarding our efforts to save the house.

And its fitting that today I announce......

We have found the property that will be the new location for the house!!

Plans are in the works to begin the relocation process at the end of summer some time in August or September.

I'll be making sure as the date nears we'll post more details and exact moving day.

I personally want to thank everyone for the support!

Now the real work begins!

Once considered for a practice burn, an effort is on to restore the 1880 Wiesner Farm House outside Mt. Angel.

The winds have stopped, the temperature is colder than you'd expect. The fire danger is between 15 and 20 miles away. Im happy to report that i feel the house is going to be safe and just fine. The air quality is poor and theres a small layer of ash. Otherwise, we are feeling lucky.

Our hearts go out to all those across the nation effected by the fires, may you be safe, healthy, and loved.

Update regarding the David Newsom Cemetery site:
Even though it won't work for the house, id still like to work towards acquiring the site for historical preservation.

Yesterday I spoke with the State historical Cemetery division director, and they have spoken with the country and have placed any possible sale or change of ownership on hold until they can property evaluate the site.

They will be going to the site in the fall when the vegetation dies back to locate graves and markers.

At that time they will decide if they will take over the site or whats best for its future. They agreed to invite me to help when they go in to evaluate as well.

Hopefully, we can prevent more history from being lost!

Saving the Historic Wiesner Farm House

Hello and Welcome!

This page has been created to share historical information, raise awareness, and show the progress of saving the Historic Wiesner House on Howell Prairie.

Built in 1864 by Bartholomew Wiesner the home boasts unique charm. Bartholomew’s family lived in the house 110 years until it fell into disrepair and was sold to a local grass seed farmer David Ditchen.

My story with the house begins in 2010 when a photo caught my eye. for many years the photo haunted me it seemed in dreams and in thought. I had always wanted to save an old home and restore it for my family. in 2016 another photo surfaced and after some digging we found the artist and its location. That day we piled the kids in the car and drove from Portland to see it. We spend a few months digging for information and not only made a deal with David to own the home, but found the Wiesner family and a treasure trove of beautiful family history and photos.
