This week marks National Police Week, a time to honor the profession, remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and reflect on the incredible support we receive from the communities we serve.

Throughout the week, our officers were treated to baked goods, lunches, challenge coins, kind words, and countless reminders of encouragement from our community.

A very special thank you goes to our Support Services Manager, who went above and beyond organizing and planning everything throughout the week. She also coordinated handwritten cards from our loved ones, which made this year especially meaningful. Those gestures meant more than words can properly express.

We would also like to give a special shout out to Metcom 911 for their generous donation of items for our soft interview room. Their thoughtful contribution will help us continue creating a more welcoming and supportive space for those we serve, and we are incredibly thankful for their partnership and generosity.

As your Silverton Police Officers, we truly believe there is no better place in the world to do this job than right here in Silverton. Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and trust. We are proud to serve this community every single day. 💙

Silverton Police Seek Community Assistance Following Hit-and-Run

SILVERTON, Ore. — At approximately 9:15 PM on April 28, Silverton Police officers responded to a two-vehicle crash, on what locals refer to as “Danger Hill” on E Main Street, that quickly turned into a hit-and-run investigation.

The initial investigation showed that a maroon 1999 Buick Century was traveling downhill (westbound) and crashed head-on with a Toyota Prius before also striking a guardrail; there were no serious injuries to the driver who was hit. The driver of the Buick then got out and fled the area on foot. As Silverton Police officers and Silverton Fire arrived, METCOM 911 began receiving additional calls reporting a possible sighting of the driver in a nearby backyard.

Officers responded quickly, launched a drone, and requested a Marion County K-9 team. Despite those efforts, the driver was not located. Premier Towing towed both vehicles from the scene and this investigation is ongoing.

Silverton Police Department is asking for the community’s help. If you live near Main Street, Oak Street, or Mill Street, and have security cameras, please review your footage between 9:15 PM and 10:45 PM on April 28, 2026, for anyone who may have entered your yard or walked through the area.

The individual we are looking for is described as a larger build, with long hair, wearing a light-colored T-shirt and darker pants.

If you have any information, please reference case number 2026-3361 and contact us at [email protected] or call our tip line at 503-874-2249.

Silverton Police Department Media Release - Silverton Police Department Makes Drug Seizure Following Traffic Stop

SILVERTON, Ore. — On Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026, at approximately 11:30 PM, a Silverton Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling westbound on Silverton Road for speeding.

The vehicle initially slowed but failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens for over a mile before eventually coming to a stop. The driver was identified and found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license. The individual also had an outstanding felony warrant for their arrest.

Following the arrest, officers began an inventory search of the vehicle prior to towing, in accordance with department policy. During the inventory, officers located suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia. At that point, the inventory search was discontinued, and the vehicle was seized and impounded pending a search warrant.

Officers applied for and obtained a search warrant for the vehicle, which was signed by a Marion County Judge. Upon ex*****on of the search warrant, officers seized significant quantities of suspected controlled substances, including methamphetamine, co***ne, ketamine, and M**A. In addition, officers recovered packaging materials, scales, and cash consistent with drug distribution and manufacturing.

The driver was subsequently charged with felony possession of controlled substances and additional drug-related offenses.

This investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday, April 11 from 6 to 8 PM, Silverton Rotary’s Daddy Daughter Dance will take place at Silverton High School.

Neighbors in the area may hear sirens, see emergency lights, or hear air horns intermittently during that time. This will be part of a planned presence. Events like this give our officers a chance to show up in a different way. Not for a call, but to connect with kids and families, share a few smiles, and create opportunities to learn about law enforcement.

We appreciate your patience with the added noise and your support as we continue building relationships in Silverton.

Silverton Police Department Media Release - Bicyclist Struck In Crosswalk at C Street and James Street

SILVERTON, Ore. — On Monday, April 06, 2026, at approximately 6:55 PM, Silverton Police Department officers responded to a report of a vehicle and bicyclist collision at the intersection of C Street and James Street.

The investigation revealed that the driver was traveling eastbound on C Street and struck an adult bicyclist in the James Street crosswalk due to low visibility from a vehicle in the left turn lane.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the driver was issued a traffic citation for careless driving; no criminal charges were filed. The bicyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Silverton Police Department conducts annual pedestrian safety trainings and community education through grant opportunities with the Oregon Department of Transportation. During a recent crosswalk enforcement mission, this intersection was identified and utilized due to prior safety concerns. In 2025, the City installed crosswalk flags at this intersection and other locations to improve pedestrian visibility.

The intersection of C Street and James Street falls under the jurisdiction of Marion County, with additional coordination involving Union Pacific Railroad. The City will continue to work with Marion County, Union Pacific Railroad, and the Oregon Department of Transportation to prioritize and address ongoing safety concerns at this location.

This one had a little bit of everything… teamwork, creativity, and one very adventurous cat 🐾

Huge shoutout to our partners at Silverton Fire District and METCOM 911. Calls like this don’t get resolved without everyone working together, thinking on the fly, and yes… occasionally building a custom cat rescue system out of whatever’s on hand.

We were glad to be part of this one alongside our fire partners, and even happier to report that S’mores is safe and will be reunited with her owners shortly.

Strong work all around 👏

☕👮 Coffee with a Cop Recap

This afternoon, we had a great time hanging out at the Silverton Bake Shop for Coffee with a Cop!

We had the chance to connect with a lot of familiar faces (and meet a few new ones), answer questions, talk about what’s going on around town, and hear what’s on your minds. These conversations, both the big ones and the small ones, are what help us better serve this community.

And in case you missed it… the Chief traded in the badge for a barista apron and was behind the counter slinging espresso shots like a pro. We’re still deciding if that’s a promotion or a side hustle.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us, and a big thank you to the Silverton Bake Shop for hosting!

Missed this one? No worries, we’ll be doing more of these in the future.
