Update on First Friday!

🌧️ FIRST FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE 🌧️

Well, Mother Nature had other plans for our final First Friday of the season!

After talking with our partners at the Silverton Flywheels and Silver Falls YMCA, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s planned First Friday activities on Main Street due to the weather.

But First Friday is STILL ON throughout Silverton! 🎉

Our local shops, restaurants, breweries and businesses are still ready to welcome you. So grab an umbrella, bring a jacket and make an evening of exploring Silverton, doing a little shopping, enjoying dinner or a treat, and supporting the local businesses that make our community so special.

We’re disappointed we won’t get to close out the season with our Back to School Bash on Main Street, but we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us for First Friday this year—and to all of the businesses, vendors and community partners who helped make these evenings possible.

Tryouts are happening THIS WEEK — August 24–27! 🎉 It’s not too late to get signed up!

Can’t make it this week because you’re out of town? No worries! We’ll have a makeup tryout on Tuesday, September 8th.

✨ All new AND returning swimmers are required to try out.
👧🧑 Ages 4–18 welcome!
📅 Season begins Monday, September 14th!

Do you love working with kids and creating a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where they can learn and grow? We’re looking for someone who is ready to make a difference at the Y!

In this role, you’ll:
🎨 Lead engaging weekly activities in art, STEM, and humanities
🤝 Build positive relationships while supporting each child’s individual needs with dignity, respect, and safety
🌟 Lead activities and transitions while keeping kids engaged
💙 Model the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility

What you’ll need:
✓ 18+ years old
✓ Reliable transportation
✓ Positive communication and social skills
✓ Able to obtain Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification
✓ One of the following:
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
• Step 6+ on Oregon Registry Online (ORO)
• 240+ hours of licensed childcare experience
