Q: Is the City required to follow the outdoor watering restrictions due to the ?

A: Yes. The City is following the one-day-a-week watering schedule and no longer watering any areas of non-functional turf. The only exception is functional turf areas available for recreation and civic and community events. These areas will continue to be watered as long as regulations allow due to their public benefit.

What action is the City taking to conserve water during the Water Shortage Emergency?

The City of Simi Valley has taken several steps to conserve water 💧at City Hall and its other buildings and facilities. This includes following the mandatory watering schedule and no longer watering non-functional turf, as you can see by the golden brown turf areas at the Civic Center.

The City has also installed water-efficient faucets, fixtures, and irrigation systems. Many areas of non-functional turf on City property have been previously removed and replaced with sustainable, drought-resistant landscaping 🌵, with more areas scheduled to be removed and replaced.

Are you looking to replace your turf areas with drought tolerant landscaping and irrigation? The Bewaterwise.com turf replacement program offers rebates of up to $3 per square foot. More information can be found here: https://www.bewaterwise.com/turf-replacement-program.html

Please note that functional turf areas used for the purpose of recreation and civic and community events will continue to be irrigated as regulations permit due to the public benefit they provide to the community.

Although last night's rain 🌧 might not have been as much as we wanted, it is still a good opportunity to give your sprinkler systems a break.

Landscape irrigation makes up a considerable portion of water use, so keeping the sprinklers off for a few days will save some money and go a long way in helping our water conservation efforts.
