Here is the latest from NHC. Edouard has made landfall and continues to weaken as it moves inland over eastern TX. Edouard is expected to weaken to a tropical depression tonight, then dissipate by Wednesday night. The primary threat remains heavy rainfall & flash flooding, especially overnight. The Flood Watch remains in effect thru Wednesday evening.

TROPICAL STORM EDUARDO UPDATE | Tuesday Morning

Tropical Storm Eduardo has strengthened overnight and is expected to continue strengthening as it approaches the northwestern Gulf Coast later today. According to the latest National Hurricane Center advisory, Eduardo could approach hurricane strength before reaching the coast.

For Fort Bend County, heavy rainfall and the potential for flooding remain our primary concerns.

🌧️ Heavy rain will impact portions of the Upper Texas Coast today and Wednesday as Eduardo moves inland.
⚠️ Flash flooding is possible, particularly in urban, low-lying and flood-prone areas or where heavy rain repeatedly moves over the same locations.
🌊 Area streams and rivers will be monitored for potential rises as rainfall continues.
🌀 Tropical storm warning is in effect for portions of the coast; Fort Bend County is not currently under a Tropical Storm Warning.

While Eduardo’s center is forecast to remain east of Fort Bend County, the forecast cone only represents the probable track of the storm’s center — impacts can extend well outside the cone.

Stay weather-aware today. Keep multiple ways to receive alerts, use caution during periods of heavy rainfall, and never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway.

After weeks of hot and increasingly dry conditions, much-needed rain is in the forecast — but some areas could receive too much, too quickly.

A disturbance in the Gulf is expected to increase shower and thunderstorm activity beginning Monday night and continuing through Wednesday, with the heaviest rainfall currently expected Tuesday afternoon and evening.

For Fort Bend County, current forecasts generally indicate around 1–1.5 inches of rainfall, but thunderstorms can produce highly localized totals. Rainfall rates in the strongest storms could reach 3–4 inches per hour, creating the potential for street flooding and flash flooding, particularly if storms repeatedly move over the same locations.

⚠️ Remember: rainfall totals can vary significantly over short distances. Never drive through a flooded roadway, and allow extra time if heavy rain impacts your commute.

It has a 30% chance of development as it drifts westward over the next few days.

Increasing chance of locally heavy showers/storms on Tuesday.

Fort Bend County has issued an outdoor burn ban for all unincorporated areas of the county, effective today, August 27, at 5 p.m.

Extreme heat, worsening drought conditions, and limited rainfall have significantly increased the risk of wildfires. As of today, Fort Bend County’s Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) is 634 on a scale of 0–800, indicating significantly dry conditions and an increased potential for fire activity.

🚫 While the burn ban is in effect, outdoor burning is prohibited in unincorporated Fort Bend County. This includes:
• Burning trash or debris
• Campfires
• Burn barrels
• Other open-flame burning that is not fully contained as required by the County’s order

🔥 Please do your part to prevent wildfires. Even a small spark can quickly become dangerous under these dry conditions. Use extra caution with anything that could ignite dry grass or vegetation, including discarded ci******es, hot equipment, welding, and vehicles parked over dry grass.

The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office will continue monitoring drought and weather conditions. The burn ban may be rescinded when conditions improve.
