We are missing an important lesson that stems from the sad tragedies out of Minneapolis. No matter how you view what's taking place, very few are arguing that the government shouldn't have this power. Simply that the power should not be wielded in this way. As Libertarians we strive to create a world where the power to oppress simply doesn't exist. In order to live in that world, we simply need to trust our neighbors more than we trust the government. The same government that shutdown businesses and locked you in your homes five years ago. The same government that is going door to door in Minnesota right now demanding your papers. The same government that created a massive surveillance state over 25 years ago and hasn't relinquished an ounce of that power back. A quote about surrendering liberty for safety comes to mind….
