Thank you to everyone who joined us for Thursday's hybrid lecture on Planning for the Future: Legal Considerations for Transitioning a Child with Disabilities into Adulthood. We had a very engaging discussion that helped parents understand the options to support their children who are disabled through adulthood.

Thank you to Neil Kraner for sharing his expertise, to the Simsbury Public Library for hosting the event, and to Simsbury Community TV for sharing it on their platforms.

If you would like to see Neil Kraner in person, he will be at the Aging-in-Place Expo on Sept. 18 where he will be glad to continue the discussion!

40 seniors enjoyed a summer luncheon of turkey wraps and lemonade at the Senior Center last Thursday.

The Fourth of July bags, the "pick your own chips,” the Klondike bars, and the raffle made for a very enjoyable lunch for our seniors. Everyone left with a smile and a bag of chips to go!

Summer is going by so quickly that we almost missed that July is Disability Pride Month!

Disability Pride Month is observed every July to celebrate disability identity and community, mark the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and push for full inclusion in everyday life. The 2026 theme is “The World Works Better With Us.” ❤️

What Disability Pride Month is, the 2026 theme “The World Works Better With Us,” why it matters now, and ways to celebrate and take action.

Despite the rain, Saturday's event was still FUN! We had music and balloon animals, door prizes and ice cream, and a few brave souls who grabbed their umbrellas and headed out to see the trucks. Thanks to everyone who came out and double thanks to our commission members, volunteers, door prize donors, and sponsors.
