June is accessible parking awareness month.

Please be considerate and do not park in the hash marks or accessible parking areas without a permit. Your compliance allows others to safely navigate congested parking areas and access locations that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Fines are $250 for a first-time offense. By working in partnership, we can ensure that all residents can enjoy all the wonderful locations that Simsbury has to offer.

NOTIFICATION REGARDING “WATER WARS”

The Simsbury Police Department wishes to inform our community about an annual activity known as “Water Wars” organized by high school seniors. This is scheduled to commence on April 20, 2026, and is expected to last for approximately two weeks. It is important to note that while this event is organized by high school seniors “Water Wars” is not endorsed by Simsbury Public Schools, and the Police Department does not support or condone this activity.

During “Water Wars”, senior students engage in a game outside of school hours where they are assigned a target student to engage with a water gun and eliminate them from the game. This can involve targeting their homes, vehicles, and/or social events. While students use brightly colored toy water guns, there have been instances of poor judgement where water guns resembling real fi****ms have been used. This poses significant challenges and concerns for law enforcement and may lead community members to believe criminal activity is taking place.

In light of these concerns, The Simsbury Police Department strongly advises parents to discuss safety measures with their children who may be participating in this activity. Participants are reminded to:

• Refrain from speeding or engaging in vehicle chases.
• Avoid obstructing traffic or creating hazards on roadways.
• Refrain from wearing dark or camouflage clothing to avoid confusion.
• Use only water guns that clearly resemble toys and not real fi****ms.
• Avoid disrupting business operations or causing disturbances to uninvolved citizens.

Our priority is ensuring the health and safety of all students during this period. Should anyone have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Simsbury Police at 860-658-3100.
