Today we welcomed our faculty and staff back for our Opening Day of Learning!
Even better—our teachers were teaching our teachers! Members of our team who attended the Plain Talk About Literacy and Learning Conference this past March led today’s learning, bringing back powerful, research-based strategies focused on the Science of Reading, literacy, writing, and supporting ALL learners.

We’re proud to see our educators sharing their expertise, learning from one another, and kicking off another great year at Cassadaga Valley!

Are you ready for an amazing adventure? Join us for Heart & Sole—it's the fun, uplifting Middle School version of Girls on the Run!

🏃‍♀️ What’s Heart & Sole all about? Your child doesn’t have to be a superstar runner to participate! Whether they prefer to stroll, jog, or sprint, it’s all about moving at THEIR pace. This program focuses on feeling joyful, healthy, and confident! We’ll engage in physical activities, but that’s just the beginning. You’ll also learn essential life skills—social, emotional, and physical—while building healthy habits!

🎉 And that’s not all! At the end of our exciting season, we'll head up to Buffalo for an awesome 5k event where we’ll run alongside other amazing teams!

💖 Want to support our teams? Everyone is welcome to join in on the 5k fun!

Let’s make some unforgettable memories together! 💪 Applications are due by Sept 11th, and practices start on Sept 15th. Practices are Tuesday's and Thursday's 2:30-4pm. 📣 Opening Day is August 31st! 🎉

We’re excited to welcome our staff back for a great day of learning, connection, and preparation for the new school year!
All staff are invited to enjoy a light breakfast and will participate in the Keynote, professional development sessions, and lunch.

Please note that all main offices — SES, MHS, Bus Garage, and District Office — will be closed from 7:30 AM–12:15 PM while our staff participate in Opening Day activities.

This week’s SES Good News is celebrating our secretarial transition that officially took effect on August 24, 2026!

We join people around the world in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton—an extraordinary artist, humanitarian, and champion for children and literacy. While the world knew Dolly for her music, we at Cassadaga Valley also knew her through a mission especially close to our hearts: putting books into the hands of children.

Since the spring of 2025, Cassadaga Valley Central School District has proudly partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide free books to children from birth through their fifth birthday who live within our district.

And what an impact that partnership has already made…
1,359 books have been mailed directly to children in our community!

Month after month, books have arrived in the homes of our youngest Cougars—helping families read together, build early literacy skills, develop a love of books, and begin preparing for school long before that very first day of kindergarten.

Dolly’s legacy reminds us that sometimes changing a child’s future can begin with something as simple—and powerful—as a book arriving in the mailbox. Her Imagination Library has distributed hundreds of millions of books to children around the world, earning her recognition as a tremendous champion of children's literacy.

We are incredibly proud to continue our Imagination Library partnership for the 2026–2027 school year, carrying forward a small piece of Dolly’s remarkable legacy right here in Cassadaga Valley.

Every child deserves a great story—and thanks to Dolly, millions have one more to read.
