On August 6, 2026, members of Beauregard Parish Fire District One participated in a Railroad Investigation and Safety Course presented by the Union Pacific Police.

Firefighters from our Fields, Bivens, Singer, Merryville, Pujo, and Junction stations attended this valuable training, where they learned how to safely conduct emergency operations on and around railroad property within our jurisdiction. The course provided important instruction on railroad hazards, scene safety, railroad operations, and best practices for responding to incidents involving rail traffic.

Ongoing training like this helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond safely and effectively while protecting both our personnel and the citizens we serve.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Jack Bartlett of the Union Pacific Police for taking the time to travel to our district and provide this outstanding training. We sincerely appreciate your expertise, professionalism, and commitment to helping first responders stay safe.

🔥 Did You Know? Sprinkler systems save lives! 💧

Many people think that when a fire starts, every sprinkler head activates at once—but that’s actually a myth!

🚒 Here’s how they really work:
• Each sprinkler head operates independently.
• Only the sprinkler head(s) exposed to the heat from the fire will activate.
• Sprinklers are designed to control or extinguish a fire in its early stages, giving occupants valuable time to escape and reducing damage to the building.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), homes and businesses protected by automatic fire sprinkler systems experience significantly fewer fire deaths and less property damage than those without them.

Take a moment to watch this video and see how fire sprinklers work. It’s a great demonstration of why they are one of the most effective fire protection systems available.

🔥 Fire Facts Save Lives! Share this post to help bust the myths about fire sprinklers and spread the word about this life-saving technology.

🇺🇸🎆 Happy Fourth of July from Beauregard Parish Fire District One! 🎆🇺🇸

As we celebrate our nation’s independence with family, friends, cookouts, and fireworks, everyone at Beauregard Parish Fire District One wishes you a safe, fun, and Happy Fourth of July!

Before you light the fuse, remember these important firework safety tips:

🎇 Leave fireworks to responsible adults—never allow young children to handle or ignite fireworks.
🎇 Keep a bucket of water, water hose, or fire extinguisher nearby.
🎇 Only use fireworks outdoors in a clear, open area away from homes, vehicles, dry grass, and trees.
🎇 Never relight a “dud” firework. Wait at least 20 minutes, then soak it in water before disposing of it.
🎇 Light one firework at a time and move away quickly.
🎇 Never hold lit fireworks in your hand or point them at people, pets, or structures.
🎇 Sparklers burn at temperatures exceeding 2,000°F—hot enough to cause severe burns. Closely supervise children at all times.
🎇 Dispose of used fireworks by soaking them thoroughly in water before placing them in the trash.

🚒 Remember: If you’re celebrating around a campfire or grill, make sure all fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area.

Let’s work together to keep our communities safe while celebrating America’s birthday!

From all of us at Beauregard Parish Fire District One, have a Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸 Stay safe, celebrate responsibly, and make memories that last a lifetime—not emergencies.

Beauregard Parish Fire District One was honored to participate in the Health Fair at Merryville High School. This event allowed students the opportunity to visit with different career fields, ask questions, and gain knowledge about potential jobs and career paths after graduation.

During the event, Beauregard Parish Fire District One provided students with the opportunity to try on a full set of firefighter turnout gear, including boots, pants, hood, jacket, helmet, gloves, and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), giving them a firsthand look and feel of what firefighters wear during emergency incidents.

Students were also able to view and handle various pieces of firefighting and rescue equipment, including a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC), battery-operated hydraulic extrication tools such as cutters and spreaders, and firefighting nozzles.

District Chief Devan Goodwin provided students with information regarding the areas covered by Beauregard Parish Fire District One, as well as what it takes to become a volunteer firefighter and serve the community.

District Chief Goodwin would like to thank Merryville High School and Beauregard Parish Health Unit for allowing Beauregard Parish Fire District One to participate in this valuable event and for investing in the future of local students and career development.
