Sinton Volunteer Fire Department would like to recognize one of our own, Nate Rendón.

Nate will be graduating this year, and because of his commitment, sacrifice, and service to our community, he has earned the Firefighter Honor Cord.

This honor is presented to graduating seniors who have volunteered with our department and shown dedication to serving others. While many teenagers focus on themselves, Nate chose to serve his community. Answering calls, putting in the hours, and standing alongside those willing to run toward danger when others run away.

This cord is not simply given; it is earned through hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Today, we recognize not only a graduate, but a firefighter and volunteer who has already made an impact on our community.

Congratulations, Nate. We are proud of you and wish you continued success in your next chapter.

At approximately 8:30 PM, Sinton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported brush fire just east of Sinton.

Upon arrival, crews found a fence, trash, and surrounding brush fully engulfed in flames. This incident had the potential to escalate quickly, as structures were located nearby.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. However, this serves as a reminder that outdoor burning should not take place within one hour of sunset, as vegetation remains extremely dry and conditions can change rapidly.

The Sinton Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Odem Volunteer Fire Department, Taft Volunteer Fire Department, and the Texas A&M Forest Service for their assistance in today’s brush fire.

Through a coordinated effort, the fire was successfully contained, and no structures were threatened as the area involved was strictly brush.

A special thank you to the Texas A&M Forest Service for creating a containment line and initiating a backburn to help stop the fire’s spread.

To the public: you may notice small areas with hot spots, but these are within the burn area and pose no threat.

As of now, the fire is 100% contained.

We appreciate the teamwork, quick response, and continued support from our neighboring departments and partners.
