Good news for families looking to beat the late-summer heat! Local splash pads will remain open for an extended period through September 13, giving everyone extra time to cool off and enjoy some outdoor fun.

Operating hours are 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at all locations except the Riverfront (Chris Larsen Park) which stays open until 11 p.m.

Splash Pad Locations:

-Cone Park -3800 Line Drive

-Dale Street Park -15th and Dale Streets

-Headington Park -2951 Isabella Street

-Leeds Park -41st and Central Streets

Looking for a fun activity for your little one this fall? Bam Bam Baseball is bringing baseball fun to the Seaboard Triumph Foods Expo Center!

Designed for boys and girls ages 3–6, Bam Bam Baseball is played like T-ball with a plastic bat and Whiffle ball.

Get your team together because Sioux City Parks and Recreation’s Co-ed Volleyball Leagues return this fall, with both Recreational and Power divisions available.

League play runs Sundays from September 6 through November 1.

KICK OFF FALL WITH YOUTH SOCCER! ⚽

Looking for a fun activity for your 4–7-year-old this fall? Our Fall Youth Soccer program is the perfect opportunity to get moving, learn soccer skills, and enjoy time with friends! 🍂

Games will be held on Mondays from 6-7 p.m. September 14 – October 26, 2026 at the Seaboard Triumph Expo Center.

The fee is $50. No match will be played on October 5.

Thank you to the Loess Hills Audubon Society for their help keeping Prairie Park clean to enjoy! 🙌

Adopt a Park Sign installed at Prairie Park, Sioux City

The Loess Hills Audubon Society “adopted” the City of Sioux City’s Prairie Park in March 2026. The goal is to keep City parks clean and safe through community involvement. LHAS has organized monthly trash pick-ups at the park on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9:30 - 10:30 am. When finished, the volunteers head to breakfast at a local cafe.

Next clean- up date will be Wednesday, September 16 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

LITTLE SLUGGERS WANTED! ⚾

Is your child ready to swing, run, and have some baseball fun? Then Bam Bam Baseball is for them!

This program is played like T-ball using a plastic bat and Whiffle ball, giving players a fun way to learn the game and build confidence.

Open to kids ages 3-6 with programming held on Thursdays from September 10–October 15 from 6 – 7 p.m.

Cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt.

Sioux City Parks and Recreation’s Adult Co****le League runs Tuesday evenings from September 8 through October 20.

Teams of two will compete throughout the season, with playoffs for the top teams at the end.
