Day two of the cleanup of the western edge of the cemetery is complete.

Jon Engberg built our memorial garden for an Eagle Scout Service Project in 2008-2009. The cobble stones that mark the entrance, come from the original streets in downtown Sioux Falls from around the time the cemetery was opened in the 1870s

Just a heads up today. The water lines at the cemetery will be off today as our staff repairs a broken line. If you need water the faucet on the front of office will be working. A couple watering cans are available to borrow just please return when done using.

Our staff members our out in the cemetery today planting urns for memorial day. Be sure to ask a staff member about our perpetual urn program.

Please use caution in the cemetery the next couple days. Our staff will be removing downed trees and branches. Please do not walk near damaged trees till our staff has removed them.

In 1921 Josephine Glidden left The Mt Pleasant Cemetery Association a gift of $13,000 to build a memorial known as the Glidden Memorial Chapel.

The Chapel has served the cemetery well and had restoration work done in the 80s. The Chapel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on Sept. 25, 1987. Unfortunately, the floor and basement are in need of restoration work to keep it accessible to the public.
