American Legion Sioux Falls SD Post 15 The American Legion Post 15 is a wartime veterans organization of Veterans serving Veterans. This service is at no cost to the veterans family. S.A.L.

HONOR GUARD - at the time of a veterans death we are here to perform honors at the funeral or burial. Call Post 15 office for more details 605.336.3470. If you are working with a funeral home in the Sioux Falls area your funeral director will make these arrangements for you - simply let them know your wishes. Post 15 also has a Son’s of American Legion for males who did not serve. members include males of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military and were eligible for American Legion membership. There is a Unit 15 Auxillary. See eligibility here: https://join.cgaux.org/eligibility They support the post and run programs of their own including girls state. Legion Riders are members who also like to ride motorcycles! Like to sing? Come join the legion chorus - you do not have to be a legion member or a veteran to join the chorus. Come on in to your POST in the 1700 West Russell building. The parking lot is on the north. Share your stories of your days in the service while having a cup of coffee. Grab your group to come play cards/games. There is always a room or several open for your group. The coffee is always on. Come at 11, order lunch at the Alliance and start that game at 12:30 -3. The Alliance has a lunch special 7 days a week from 11:30 - 1pm. Always a home cooked meal! Or order off the full menu. Refreshments from the Lobo Lounge are available to order during lunch too. The Lobo Lounge opens at 4pm M-F. Shoot at the Alliance gun range, shop at the Hanger gift shop. There is a game area for kids/families too! Enter the theater, choose a movie and relax in one of the recliners and enjoy “movie time” Watch for the addition of a chapel and museum too. Have an event- large or small - between your Post in the 1700 building or the Alliance in the 1600 building there are rooms of all sizes available. (Charges vary and this is all handled by the Alliance staff)

If you served one day in the armed forces you are eligible to be an American Legion member. Stop in M-F 11-3pm Dues are $40 a year. DO NOT SIGN UP ONLINE AS YOU CANNOT CHOOSE A POST. We ask that you create a “mylegion” account at www.legion.org after you have joined. Renewals can be completed online and this can be done starting in July each year.

A FULL DAY to celebrate AMERICA250 in Sioux Falls. Thank you to everyone that
Has been working for so long to make sure we can celebrate. Wear your colors and wave your flags. Let’s break the record for the crowd that will gather for the festivities!

10am PARADE on Phillips Ave. (see map in the comments)

Then to the Levitt for food and music.

6pm head to the FAIRGROUNDS for a night of fun. Municipal Band, food trucks, music, flag retirement ceremony and fireworks. American Bank And Trust Kids Area.

Pancakes - we will be serving our monthly Sunday morning at The Alliance 8:30am-noon. Wear your patriotic colors and continue the celebration!

We are less than 30 days away! The food truck competition at 13 entries and the float competition are both heating up with close to 60 entries this year. “Wooo!!” as Rick Flair would say 😆 Your ‘Float Game’ will be rewarded this year with the Pizza Ranch’s Best Parade Presentation winner’s plaque and dinner party for up to 15 at the Pizza Ranch on 41st street. We hope your meetings are fruitful with lots of great ideas for a fun presentation at the big 4th of July Downtown Sioux Falls Parade. Thank you so much to Pizza Ranch for your sponsorship!!

In 2025 Phil and his wife Linda moved to Sioux Falls from Idaho. They transferred their Legion memberships to Post 15. Phil loved playing bridge with the Wednesday bridge group.

This is a tradition many don’t know about. Thank you for placing the 36 flags today.

Getting ready for the Boy Staters to arrive a little later today. Early this morning I helped Homer Holmes place small American flags near the entrance the boys will use. 36 flags that represent the 36 individuals who at one time attended Boys State and later gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
