Since our organization began in 2012, The Foster Network has supported local foster families in Sioux Falls, SD, and the surrounding area. This includes access to support groups, events, scholarship opportunities, bedroom furniture access, and The Closet, where foster families can receive clothing, supplies, and toys for the children they are fostering. We aim to ensure families have reliable and

Over the last two days alone, The Closet has helped outfit more than 60 children with summer clothing. 🩵

As families continue to come through our doors, some of our girls’ clothing sections are becoming very low — especially sizes 4, 8, and 10-12.

We are currently in need of:
☀️ Girls’ summer shorts
👕 Girls’ summer shirts
🛏️ Girls’ pajamas
📏 Sizes 4, 8, and 10-12

New or gently used donations are appreciated and make a direct impact for children entering foster care and the families caring for them.

We are once again asking for help with ethnic hair care supplies as our inventory remains extremely low, and we are still completely out of many of these items.

These are not “extra” items. They are everyday essentials that help children feel cared for, confident, comfortable, and like themselves. 🩵

Items needed:
🪮 Edge brushes, styling combs & boar bristle brushes
🧴 Moisturizing shampoo & conditioner
✨ Styling creams & hair oils
🛏️ Silk bonnets

We are especially hoping to restock these items soon so we can better meet the needs of the children and families we serve.

Foster care support is about more than meeting basic needs. It’s about helping children feel safe, included, confident, and cared for in everyday moments. 🩵

Something as simple as choosing clothes that feel like them can help restore comfort, dignity, and a sense of normalcy during a time of major transition.

☀️ What a night at our first annual School’s Out Blowout! 🩵

Hosted alongside Foster605, more than 150 foster families, children, volunteers, and community members joined us at Sertoma Park to celebrate the start of summer with connection, fun, and a sense of community. From games and activities to animals, food, and resources, the evening was full of joy and unforgettable moments.

We want to recognize two incredible volunteers who continue to show up week after week to support our mission.

Lauverne Harr, age 85, and Leone Christiansen, age 92, faithfully volunteer at The Closet each week by hanging and organizing clothing. Their kindness, dedication, and willingness to give their time continue to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes in ways that matter deeply.

Leone has even recruited residents from Touchmark at All Saints Retirement Community to volunteer twice a month alongside her. ✨

We are grateful for volunteers like Lauverne and Leone who remind us that caring for others and building community has no age limit. Thank you both for the time, heart, and joy you bring to The Foster Network every single week! 🩵

The moments that stick with us are often the simplest ones. 🩵

A hockey game.
Cheering from the stands.
Meeting players they look up to.
Feeling part of something bigger.

These photos and videos from the Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Club game on May 16 are such a fun reminder of the memories made during a special night at the rink. ✨

Because of the generosity of free tickets donated by the Stampede, foster families had the opportunity to attend the game together and experience a night out they might not otherwise have had.

Some kids have even started playing hockey themselves after attending games and connecting with the players in such a meaningful way.

These experiences matter. They build confidence, connection, joy, and core memories that last far beyond one night at the rink.
