ROSEVILLE, MI — An 80-year-old Michigan grandmother found herself in police custody this week after a series of calls came in from across Macomb County reporting that she was allegedly using a v**e pen in some of the county’s most inappropriate locations, including while taking her driver’s test at a Secretary of State office, inside a Kroger pharmacy and during a church bingo night. Police say the woman apparently believed that because ma*****na is legal in Michigan, she was legally allowed to smoke wherever she wanted in public and considered the repeated objections from strangers an attack on her rights. The grandmother also reportedly insisted that v**e smoke does not smell and told several people who complained that they “needed to lighten up.” Witnesses at the Secretary of State said she allegedly took a hit from the v**e pen while taking her driver’s test, while employees at a Kroger pharmacy reported that she allegedly took another hit and blew the v***r toward a pharmacist while demanding her blood pressure medication. At a church bingo night, witnesses said the grandmother was sitting in a noticeable cloud of v***r when she suddenly slammed her card down, yelled “BINGO, MUTHAFKERS!” and exhaled another faint cloud of v**e smoke. Police said additional complaints came in throughout the day from locations around Macomb County, with witnesses saying the woman repeatedly called people “narcs” whenever they asked her to stop. Officers eventually intervened at the Kroger pharmacy after she allegedly continued taking hits while demanding her medication and telling employees to “keep the pigs away from me” before beginning to chant “USA! USA!” Police initially attempted to avoid making an arrest and instead planned to issue the woman a ticket, but officers said she refused to cooperate and was eventually taken into custody. From the back of the patrol car, she allegedly demanded that officers stop at Arby's for a Beef 'n Cheddar “or there would be problems.” After spending the night in a holding cell, the grandmother reportedly calmed down and apologized for her behavior, telling family members she now understands that “legal doesn't mean you can do it anywhere.” She also reportedly announced that she had learned another important lesson about responsible decision-making and would be making some “changes to her menu” going forward, saying she was done with indica and planned to “stick with sativa.”
