We had a wonderful afternoon welcoming two families into their new Granite Valley homes! Congratulations to Abdo, Badria, Fantahun, Tikikil and their families for all the time and energy they poured into our program. Whether they were out working on jobsites or taking homebuyer education classes, they showed up with smiles and determination to build stability for their families. Today, all that hard work paid off, and we're so excited for both families to make these houses their homes.

These homes would not have been possible without the students and instructors at CTE Academy and Harrisburg High School who helped build them during the 2024-25 school year! We're grateful they could join us for today's celebration and present keys to the families.

We would also like to thank Vern Eide, the Sheldon F Reese Foundation, the MidAmerican Energy Foundation, Xcel Energy and American Family Insurance for their generosity along with our many other individual and business donors and volunteers for their support. Thank you to Project Warm-Up for their donation of blankets and Ben Reifel Middle School for making welcome home kits and signs.

We are so grateful for all the volunteer groups that have come out to build and revitalize with us during ! In the last week, they've put up siding and soffit in our Millard Acres neighborhood, helped a homeowner add a fence to their walkway for accessibility, and completed landscaping, painting and organization projects at the Habitat building. Thank you to everyone from Harmony South Dakota, Citi, Smithfield Foods and Sanford Health (in memory of former colleague Jesse "Hey Guy" Goebel) for your energy, positivity and service!

We had a wonderful morning hosting the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce's Morning Mingle! Thank you to everyone who stopped out for coffee, breakfast and connections with our team and community. We loved getting to show you all our ReStore, annex and the home Southeast Technical College students built this past school year.

As our first homeowner Linda shared this morning, the stability she and her children found through Habitat homeownership would not have been possible without the community's support. When individuals and families have the opportunity to purchase a safe, affordable home, it brings lifechanging stability. Home is where they are finally free from the stresses of renting and can put down roots in their community. Happy Juneteenth, a day to come together to celebrate freedom and the end of slavery in our country! Here at Habitat, the only walls we build are for homes. We believe everyone should have access to safe, affordable housing and that by working side by side, we can build strong foundations for generations to come.
