The same monarch butterflies you see fluttering through Sioux Falls each fall embark on an extraordinary 2,000-mile journey to central Mexico. Until 1975, this remarkable migration across three countries remained one of natureβs greatest mysteries. Join author Will Wright to discover how citizen scientists helped solve the mystery and how that discovery transformed conservation efforts.
Wright will be joined by Leigh Spencer, Education & Conservation Director for Sioux Falls Zoo & Aquarium, to discuss butterfly conservation work happening in Sioux Falls and South Dakota. Based on Willβs book Borders of Biodiversity, this presentation is perfect for nature lovers, conservation enthusiasts, and anyone curious about one of natureβs most remarkable phenomena.
