Today, let's remember Sioux Falls For Rescue Lieutenant Michael D. Andersen.
Mike enjoyed politics and was extremely proud of his profession. As a result, he was a tireless worker for the Local, the IAFF, and the Professional Fire Fighters of South Dakota. He was very active in fundraising efforts, public relations and in lobbying for a presumtive cancer bill. He was devoted to his family and his faith.
Michael served in the US Navy from 1974-1978. He joined the Sioux Fire Department in 1986. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant and then became an EMS Training Officer. He was a member of the Sioux Falls Fire Association Local 814, serving as Secretary and past President of the South Dakota Professional Fire Fighters Association.
Brother Anderson died on Wednesday January 15, 2003 after battling multiple myloma for the past three years.
