The FREE Summer Backpack Program food bags are available in Sioux Falls to children 18 and under at the following locations:

Bags will be available on Thursdays, June 4–August 6.
Please contact the individual site for holiday availability.

Hayward Elementary School
400 N. Valley View Rd.
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Children must be present to receive food; no income guidelines or paperwork are necessary.

What a wonderful way to close out a successful school year at Hayward! ❤️

Mrs. McKay's second graders shared their final closing circle of the year today — a special moment filled with reflection, laughter, memories, and celebration of all they accomplished together and what they are looking forward to next year as 3rd graders.

Thank you to our amazing students, staff, and families for making this school year one to remember. We are so proud of all the growth, learning, and kindness shown throughout the year.

The Sioux Falls School District Summer Meal Program returns May 28 – August 7, 2026 to help keep kids fueled all summer long!
✅ FREE meals for all children ages 1–18
✅ No paperwork required
✅ Monday–Friday
🍳 Breakfast: 8:00–8:30 AM
🥪 Lunch: 11:30 AM–12:30 PM
📌 No meals on Friday, July 3

Congratulations to these members of our school family as they begin their retirement journey — kindergarten teacher Mrs. Ramstad and Custodian Mark!

Mrs. Ramstad has spent years shaping young minds with patience, kindness, and a love for learning that has touched countless students. Mark has worked tirelessly behind the scenes, always keeping our school running smoothly and creating a welcoming environment for everyone.

While we will miss seeing them each day, we are so grateful for everything they have given to our students and staff over the years, we hope Mrs. Ramstad and Mark enjoy their happy and well-deserved retirements! ❤️
