This year’s Zoo Literacy Festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This festival creates a fun, literacy-focused experience at the zoo for children of all ages and their family members.

South Dakota Parent Connection was grateful to be part of the open house event in Elk Point last week.

Dr. Carla Miller joined other community partners in helping students and families prepare for a successful school year. For those of you keeping track, yes, it was a very busy week attending many great events to help families with information and resources.

South Dakota Parent Connection was grateful to be part of Project: SOS (Supply Our Students) at The Banquet Sioux Falls on Saturday!

Free backpacks and school supplies were handed out to students from Pre-K through college, helping make sure students have the tools they need to learn and succeed.

Dr. Carla Miller attended the event along with SDPC Board members Chris Nickles, Amber Winkler, Darla Biel, and Lena Peters. Together, they joined community partners in helping students and families prepare for a successful school year.

A special thank you to for organizing this wonderful event and to all of the community organizations, volunteers, and providers who helped make Project: SOS a success. Your time, generosity, and teamwork make a difference for South Dakota students and families! 💙💛

Is Your Teen Getting Ready for Life After High School?

Sioux Falls families and those in the surrounding area are invited to join South Dakota Parent Connection and Sioux Falls School District for a Resource Fair!

Planning for adulthood can bring lots of questions. This free event is a chance for parents and youth to connect with local organizations and learn about resources that can help with life after high school.

Come learn about supports for education, jobs, independent living, community services, and more. You can ask questions, gather helpful information, and start thinking about the next steps for your young person.

Families and youth are encouraged to attend together!
