Yesterday, the people of Sioux Falls took the first step in electing a new mayor. Congratulations to Christine Erickson and Jamie Smith on advancing to the runoff. I wish them both the best as they continue making their case to the voters of Sioux Falls.

Running for mayor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I entered this race because I believe deeply in Sioux Falls and in the opportunities before us. While we fell short, I remain proud of the campaign we ran and the ideas we put forward.

I am especially grateful to my family, campaign team, volunteers, supporters, and everyone who took the time to engage in this election. None of this would have been possible without your dedication, encouragement, and sacrifice. Thank you!

Leadership is not defined by holding an office, nor is citizenship defined solely by casting a vote. Both are defined by showing up for your community, serving others, contributing where you can, and continuing to believe in the future. That is exactly what I intend to do.

Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this important conversation about Sioux Falls' future. I remain optimistic about what lies ahead for our city and look forward to continuing to serve this community I love.
