๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ HONORING OUR HEROES ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation.

Their courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends, let us take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of their sacrifice.

"All gave some, some gave all."

The American Red Cross is facing a critical blood shortage, which could lead to disruptions in lifesaving care. Donors are urgently needed to give blood or plateletsโ€”especially O-, O+, A-, and B- blood types.

The Siren Fire Department will be hosting the American Red Cross for a Blood Drive on June 5th at the Siren Fire Hall 10a to 4p. A sign-up link will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

๐Ÿšจ Welcome the newest piece of equipment to the Siren Fire Department! ๐Ÿšจ

We would like to give a huge thank you to Ken at Affordable Auto for the sale of the UTV and Damon at Trailer City for the sale of the trailer. We appreciate your support of our department and community!

This equipment was purchased using fundraiser money made possible by the continued support of our community. The UTV will soon be equipped with a firefighting skid unit to assist with wildland fires, along with a backboard setup to help us safely access and transport patients in areas where a fire truck or ambulance may not be able to reach.

This addition will be a tremendous asset to our department and the people we serve. Thank you again to everyone who supports the Siren Fire Department! ๐Ÿš’

The Wisconsin DNR, in conjunction with the National Weather Service, has issued a Red Flag Warning for today, Friday, May 15, 2026 from noon to 9 p.m. for the following 11 counties:

Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, Vilas and Washburn

A Red Flag Warning is issued when a variety of weather factors come together to create especially dangerous wildland fire conditions. Warm temperatures, very low humidity, gusty winds and exceptionally dry fuels from lack of precipitation in the region are forecast and can result in catastrophic fires.

Recent rains have not minimized wildfire concerns, as grasses, pine needles and leaf litter can dry out again very quickly between precipitation events, creating hazardous conditions.

In addition to the Red Flag Warning, all DNR-issued burn permits for debris piles and broadcast burning are suspended in 26 counties, with additional suspensions possible throughout the weekend. Find updated information on DNR burning permit suspensions on the DNR's WisBurn tool: https://apps.dnr.wi.gov/wisburn/ #/BurnRestrictions

The DNR has responded to nearly 500 wildfires thus far in 2026, with 45% of those caused by debris burning.

The DNR is asking the public to be especially careful with any activities that could potentially lead to a wildland fire and check any fires from recent days to make sure they have been properly extinguished.
Campfires, ashes from fireplaces, outdoor grills, smoking, chainsaws, off-road vehicles or other small engines with hot exhaust systems have the potential to throw a spark, ignite a fire and spread quickly. Please use extreme caution until conditions improve.

The DNR is at full staffing and preparedness across the state to respond to any incidents.

May Training Highlights โ€“ Siren Fire Department ๐Ÿš’

Our members have been busy this month sharpening critical skills to better serve our community!

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Confined Space Training
Firefighters trained in the challenges of operating in tight, enclosed environmentsโ€”focusing on safety, communication, and proper rescue techniques.

๐Ÿ“ก Pump Operator & Radio Training
Crews worked on pump operations and strengthening radio communication skills to ensure efficient water supply and clear, effective coordination on every call. Shout out to Dan for being a good sport!

Continuous training keeps our team prepared, confident, and ready when it matters most. ๐Ÿ’ช

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for putting in the time and effort to stay mission-ready!

Here's the scoop...

Just a quick reminder-our station is NOT staffed full-time, but our members are typically around on the 1st and 3rd Mondays.

๐ŸšจIf you have an emergency, please call 911, right away.

For non-emergencies, feel free to leave us a detailed voicemail with your name, number, and what you need-we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

And just to clear up one popular request...๐Ÿˆ๐ŸŒณ Yes, we've gotten calls about rescuing cats from trees. While we love animals, we don't respond to those calls-the cat will come down eventually!

Thanks for your understanding and continued support of your local volunteers!

MADISON, Wis. โ€“ The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), in conjunction with the National Weather Service, has issued a Red Flag Warning for today, Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 2 to 8 p.m. for the following counties in northwest Wisconsin:

Burnett and Washburn.

A Red Flag Warning is issued when a variety of weather factors come together to create especially dangerous wildland fire conditions. Hot temperatures, very low humidity, gusty winds and exceptionally dry fuels from lack of precipitation in the region are anticipated and can result in catastrophic fires.

The counties surrounding Burnett and Washburn are still in near-critical fire danger, and the public should avoid all burning across the region until conditions improve.

The DNR will prohibit burning with all DNR-issued burn permits where the DNR has burn restriction authority in areas with elevated fire danger.

Please use extreme caution until the fire weather and the fuel conditions improve.

The DNR responded to nearly 70 wildfires in the last week. Several fires occurred throughout northwest Wisconsin, the same area where the Red Flag Warning is in effect.
